Advice on wire loops for a through-wire

Hey guys, one of the things I seem to struggle with the most when making a fishing lure other than the paint scheme is making clean looking wire loops on the through-wire. Any advice on how to make the loops look good, while also having them sturdy? Also, what wire gauge does everyone use for their through-wire? Thanks for the help, cheers.

Something I have been testing

Lots of you guys are soooooo talented at making lures, from the design, the paint scheme, I am jealous haha.

I have been having fun with 3D modelling and then printing some hard lure bodies lately and I’ve finally managed to nail out a design I am decently happy with. I really do suck at Airbrush painting, or just regular painting as you guys can probably already tell haha. But either way it’s always been fun to design, print and assemble something that has the potential of catching fish.

I really need to get better files, sand paper, and airbrush cleaning stuff. That stuff is all coming in soon though.

Cheers folks.

Displacement not doing anything.

So I have added a subdiv surface modifier, unwrapped my object, added colour, roughness, displacement and Normal nodes, set my render viewport to cycles. I have also set up the displace modifier with the texture set to Height map. I am still having troubles with my object not getting displaced. After adding all of that, I adjust the midlevel and strength and nothing happens.

More fun with experimental designs.

So I made a post recently about the top design, which is my own fun with trying popper flies, but I also came up with another design, using lightweight plastic bodies UV resin and some other materials. The bottom 4 I am calling Micro-minnows.

Just having a bit of fun

Hey guys, new to fly tying and thought I’d mess around with poppers a bit. I do completely get that this probably looks quite bad, but it was fun to make. I used a 3D printed with white ABS filament to make the popper head, then attached it to the hook with UV resin, then followed that up with some yellow string and some red string I fluffed up. I also gave the popper head some eyes.

I don’t really currently have any of the fly tying material essentials yet, or even tools for that matter, I am more just gauging my own interest in this before I actually dive into it. Cheers.

Struggles with illness and loss of muscle mass

Hey guys, back in 2022 I had a major health scare with mental health. Before the scare I was pretty in shape, could jog for a few Kilometers, ride bikes, workout etc. Without explaining too much about the scare, I had always struggled with anxiety, and due to a bad medication I started, my anxiety became greatly unmanagable. Any time I would raise my heartrate above a certain point doing anything it would trip me into having a rather horrible long lasting panic attack. As a result of this difficulty, I could not exercise at all until I had gotten myself back in order. This trouble lasted from 2022-2024. Due to not being able to get any reasonable form of exercise I have lost nearly all of my musclemass, and even walking relatively short distances causes my calves to burn quite fiercly. What do you guys think would be good as starter exercises to get back into the swing of things? Thankfully I am doing way way better interms of my mental health. I just need to get my physical health back. Thanks for any advice.

Hey guys, I have dried my filament for 8 hours on my printbed with my P1S, I then transferred it to my AMS 2 pro. When printing the seams are ripping away slightly. I had a similar problem with Elegoo PETG, but I solved it by bumping the temp from 230-255 and changing the seam scarf settings. I tried the same fox with the Bambu PETG and it is still giving me issues.

Settings are: 255 nozzle, 80 on the bed, 0.8025 flow ratio. Any ideas how to fix this?
