My wife and I are trying to get her new motorcycle registered, but Louisiana is requiring that we have Louisiana insurance on the vehicle. I am concerned cause SCRA (Sevicemembers Civil Relief Act) should supersede the state law, allowing me to have any vehicles attached to my home of record rather than the state I am stationed in. If anyone can confirm if im correct in my thinking or provide me with the reasoning on my I must have Louisiana insurance it would be extremely helpful.

I am trying to avoid Louisiana motorcycle insurance at all costs being that it is $3500/year compared to my home states $200/year.

And yes I am able to register the vehicle in my home state, but im just trying to gather info.
