Anybody else take recroom for granted?

I made my account all the way back in september 19th 2020 and really only hopped on rec room monthly at best, so I took quite a lot of it for granted and never really socialised to make friends. I did make a small handful but none of them have been on in years or months, even in the last days too. You also can’t add somebody as a friend in these last few days so it’s a bit of a stab.

Probably the main reason I didn’t hop on rec room as much as I could’ve was from the fact that I had more established friend groups across other games, so I never really invested too much into rec room. Still, I’ve played enough to know that I took it all for granted. Other people on this subreddit have played well over two thousand rooms and joined more or less the same timeframe I did, which makes me disappointed in my inaction.

I don’t know if there’s any other people like this that didn’t really bother with making friends, but looking back, definitely should’ve. Still, I’ve made a good handful of fond memories in this game, despite this setback for me.

Hoist your sails and go for it, do your rec best.

Abandoned grammar school and primary school

Two schools both closed about the same time, belonging to an interconnected line of religious teaching in the region. One had no entrance and the other recently had its only interior entrance sealed off by a firm brick wall. Farewells.

I took the exterior photos much more recently, when it was sealed off, but I was lucky enough to be among the last few to enter the building with my friends. Cherry on top should be the fact that I didn’t bring my camera with me when I did manage to get into the interior. Tough luck.

For those interested in the history;

The primary school merged with another primary school but ended up moving buildings again afterwards. Built in 1937, it provided education for over 60 years to its students. Ironically, the school it merged with ended up demolished first. The building still stands as a relic of the 20th century.

The grammar school opened a few decades after and was more brief, only open for about 50 years before moving buildings to a newer site. In its time, it saw a huge influx of student numbers, so it had to add an entire wing and outdoor classrooms to accommodate for the growing attendance. This was the last building that the christian brothers taught in.

The buildings have suffered arson attacks and other violent damage. In the older parts of the school, entire walls have gave way to show the asbestos lining still intact despite the years of neglect. Much of the overgrowth on the building was cleared a few months ago, so demolition is expected soon.
