It's always 1999 in my mind!

Got a Game Boy Pocket in red just like my parents bought me when was 10 (in 1999 😂), but upgraded with a Poco board.

Crazy to see how expensive some of this stuff is in 2026! This was 50 dollars in 1999, and the Game Boy color was 80. I remember going to Toys R Us only 9 months after Pokémon started airing on TV in the US, and the Game Boy Color was sold out because everyone was playing red/blue/yellow, so I opted to get the Game Boy pocket because I was impatient (still am at 37 😂).

Bought this from FB Marketplace this week, open box, but seems new/untouched (oddly)

I found a 1996 Game Boy Pocket on FB Marketplace this week. I got one for my Bday when I was 10 (in 1999), and recently bought a modded one (in color cool enough), but when I saw this one I couldn't resist. I noticed the packaging for this one is different than mine from 1999, I remember a cardboard black box - was wondering if this is just an early version? I don't think it's anything special, but seems to be maybe an early generation from 1996 when they were released (my guess)?

Any cool/extra information any experts know would be much appreciated.

Some of my vintage digitals might fit in here...

I collect these odd ball digitals from the 70s-90s, so I may or may not have possibly hundreds of these types of models 😂, happy to post more if I can interest new collectors in vintage digitals. I find buying a vintage digital is a good way to get the cassette futurism itch out of the system 😂

Watches in photos:

Timex 'Aegis' Tracer (beeper watch from 90s)

Casio Easy Rec-30 (90s, records 30 seconds worth of audio - only 30 seconds 😂)

Casio SDB-300w (1989 yellow watch, same model once worn by the fastest woman on earth - florence griffith joyner)

Casio Thermoscanner - Can read the temperature of objects it scans (wild for the 90s).
