Green-tailed Sunbird

A Green-tailed Sunbird for an art challenge. Colored pencil and a little bit of alcohol marker for the background in my Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

My first watercolor sketchbook

The first few pages from my first watercolor sketchbook. I have been wanting to get into watercolor for years and have been working with it now for a few weeks. I am currently on a break from drawing (my brain won't let me focus on it at the moment). They have a bird challenge coming up here soon for August on Bluesky, so I will be getting back into my sketchbooks soon enough.

Jellyfish

My latest jellyfish study. I'm really happy to have gotten over my trepidation with watercolor because I am enjoying my time with it.

Jellyfish watercolor practice

Advice is always appreciated especially being newly introduced to watercolor. Wasn't looking to learn anything specific while doing this one, just general practice with layering and transparency. A friend does now want her own jellyfish painting, so it's a win there.

Statuary

Some late night sketchbook practice. Practicing shading with watercolor as well as work on proportion. I''m satisfied with it. If this is where I'm starting with watercolor I am more than happy. I think the worst thing so far is I'm not giving some layers time to dry and I'm definitely playing it safe with color mixing.

For your consideration

Just finished and I'm torn on this one. Something is off, it's either the initial drawing or my watercolor work...or both
