My Experience Booking an Ather Rizta S 3.7 kWh from Ather BU Bhandari (SB Road, Pune)
I booked an Ather Rizta S 3.7 kWh from the Ather BU Bhandari showroom on SB Road, Pune.
Before booking, I visited multiple Ather showrooms across Pune. Every showroom clearly told me that the waiting period was around 25 days minimum. However, the BU Bhandari showroom assured me that they could deliver the scooter within 15 days, which was the main reason I decided to book through them.
About 6 days after booking, I received a call from the showroom saying that my scooter was about to be dispatched and that I should make the payment. They mentioned something about generating an invoice and started pushing for payment.
I told them that I would only make the payment after the scooter arrived and after I completed a proper PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). They continued insisting on payment.
What confused me even more was that on Saturday I was told the scooter was being dispatched from Bangalore, but when I called again on Sunday, I was told that it had been dispatched from Tamil Nadu. The information kept changing.
Another issue was the delivery commitment. Initially, they said the scooter would be delivered within 15 days. Later, when I followed up, I was told that the scooter would arrive at the showroom within 15 days, and delivery to me could take another 3–4 days. I pointed out that any customer would naturally understand “15-day delivery” to mean the scooter would be handed over within 15 days, not just arrive at the showroom.
The salesperson became defensive and said that they had only promised the scooter would reach the showroom within 15 days, not that I would receive delivery within 15 days.
Today (26 June), I visited the showroom and found out that the scooter hasn’t even been allocated yet. At this point, nobody seems to know when it will actually arrive.
A few other things that bothered me:
Ather’s website mentions a ₹999 booking amount, but this showroom insisted on a minimum payment of ₹2,500 during booking.
When I asked about discounts, I was told there were none.
Later, I checked with another showroom and found that they were offering a ₹6,000 customer discount, a 2-year extended battery warranty, and 30% off accessories.
When I informed the salesperson about these offers, he immediately said they could provide the same benefits as well.
Overall, my experience has been disappointing due to inconsistent information, pressure for payment before vehicle arrival, and a lack of transparency regarding waiting periods and offers.
Has anyone else faced similar issues while booking an Ather scooter? I’d love to hear about your experiences.
Personally, based on my experience so far, I would not recommend booking through Ather BU Bhandari (SB Road, Pune). I would suggest checking other Ather dealerships in Pune before making a decision.
