Tips for growing?

Live in the PNW so moss is kinda everywhere, but we want to encourage it to grow in our newly laid patio. Filled the gaps w/ a layer of sphagnum moss and some sifted native/ yard soils over sand. All the moss bits are harvested from random parts of our yard. I think 3-4 different varieties.

I know moss is slow growing, anything we can do to help it along?

After years of working inside, we’re finally spending time on our yard. Spent the weekend clearing out a whole big patch on the south side of our yard.

Trying to preserve the ferns and trilliums but need to plant something that can outcompete the weeds/ invasives.

It’s probably close to 400Sq Ft, eventually we’ll add some gravel paths and maybe a bench but want to start establishing some natives. Any suggestions?
