Cooking other things than rice in rice cooker - lingering smell?

Hi,

I have had my Zojirushi NS-YSQ10 for a good while now. Even though it has a slow cooker function, I've never used since I heard a claim saying that when cooking other stuff than rice in a rice cooker (let's say a flavourful gulasch), there is a risk of lingering smell of said dish remaining that could affect the taste of rice cooked afterwards.

To those of you that have used the slow cooker function, made one pot style rice meals etc, is there any truth in the "smell might linger" claim?

Thinking of upgrading from Trek Allant 7.4 (2016) to FX3 Stepover Gen 4 (2026). Dumb or fantastic idea?

Hi,

I bought my Trek Allant 7.4 in may 2016 and have used it it for mostly commuting a total of 8km per work day (exept for a couple of years during university studies in another city). And a few longer rides (planning on doing more of those in the future). Not very heavily used, but it looks kinda worn in the paint, drive train needs to be replaced due to wear and another smaller part on the rear tire I don't remember the name of.

Since I've had the Allant 7.4 for a while, I'm playing with the thought of demoting it to winter commuting duty and getting a brand new Trek FX 3 Stepover Gen 4 as a main bike. I've also considered the FX Sport AL 3 since it's so smiliar, but since I ride mostly on alphalt roads, the narrower tires on the FX3 seems like a slightly better idea.

But... the FX3 and the Allant 7.4 is kinda similar. Are they too similar? Would it be a dumb idea to upgrade to such a similar bike?

Or has the ten years that passed since I bought my old bike meant enough time for parts development to make the FX3 feel faster/smoother/more fun/etc to ride? Will it feel like a new cool bike, or more like "eh, feels like my old one but new"?
