DELE Practice

Hi All,

I posted about 3 weeks ago, I promise I will not spam this group too much :) But the feedback i've gotten from my founding cohort has been immensely helpful and especially the DELE learners have spent a lot of time on the platform and have given me great feedback.

We've been shipping fixes for the last 2 weeks, so our platform is much improved and even more is coming this week.

I am offering 10 more learners free access for 3 months.

If you'd like to try it, please email me at geoff@dioma.com and let me know you're prepping for the DELE. Happy to answer any questions in the thread too.

Here's a bit of info:

I'm Geoff and I built a Spanish (and a few other languages) practice tool called Dioma (dioma.com) with a curriculum built by real adult-focused Spanish tutors. The hardest part for a lot of you is the exact thing Dioma is built for, the Speaking and Writing. You can drill vocab and grammar on your own, but actually producing Spanish and getting corrected on it is the piece that's tough to do solo.

That's the whole idea. You practice speaking and writing prompts and get real-time corrections on what you actually produced, so you can build up your output without needing a tutor booked for every session. It's aimed at B1-C1, which is right where most DELE folks are pushing to hit their score. It's live and stable today, not a waitlist.

If you want in, comment here, DM me or email me at geoff@dioma.com and let me know you're prepping for the DELE. Happy to answer any questions in the thread too.

Help from Spanish Teachers who focus on adults.

*This is not an ad*

I'm Geoff, and I've spent the last couple of years building a practice platform focused on intermediate and advanced Spanish, French, and Hebrew learners. I'm not here to pitch it. I'm here because I want to understand something better, and I think the people in this group are the ones who actually know the answer.

Most of what I read about "intermediate plateau" learners is written with a classroom L2 learner in mind. Heritage learners are a different case. The adults many of you teach 1:1 often speak more than they can write, or carry a home dialect that doesn't match the register they're being asked to produce, or came to you specifically because a group class moved either too fast or too slow for where they actually are. I don't think I understand that well enough yet.

Would anyone in this community be willing to chat with me about heritage Spanish learners you have taught?

Great feedback already from founding cohort

The TEF for Canada has no overall score. IRCC reads each of the four skills separately and your file moves on the weakest one, so a strong reading result cannot carry a weak speaking result. For most people who already speak decent French, speaking is the skill holding the file up, because it is the hardest one to practice alone.

That is the problem I work on. To be transparent, I am the founder of Dioma, a platform built for the stage after the beginner apps, where you understand far more than you can actually say. You produce French in writing and speech and get corrections with the reasoning behind them, without the pressure of a live conversation.

A few weeks ago I opened a small founding group. They are using it now and they have been genuinely honest with me, which is exactly what I asked for, and a good amount of what they raised is already built. The biggest one: they told me the corrections were sometimes flagging sentences that were already correct. That is worse than no correction at all, because you start doubting what you actually know. We rebuilt that part, and it is noticeably better now.

I have about ten founding spots left, and I would like some of them to go to people testing now. Three months free, and in exchange I ask for the same honest feedback as you go. That is the whole deal.

It is built for intermediate and advanced learners, not beginners.

Comment here or send me a message and we'll get you setup!

Great Showing from this community: DELE Prep Platform

A few weeks ago I opened a small set of founding spots for Spanish learners on Dioma, the platform I built for the stage after the apps, where you understand far more than you can actually say. Test takers, especially rigorous tests like the DELE, are a key group of people we want to help.

The first group is in and using it, and they have been generous with the honest feedback I asked for. A good amount of it is already built. The biggest one: they told me the corrections were sometimes flagging things they had got right, which is worse than no feedback at all, because you start doubting what you actually know. We rebuilt that part, and it is noticeably better as of Friday.

I have about ten founding spots left, and I would like some of them to go to people working toward the DELE or SIELE, where the writing and speaking sections are the half most people underprepare. Three months free, and in exchange I ask for the same honest feedback as you go. That is the whole deal.

It is built for intermediate and advanced learners, not beginners.

If that is you, comment below or message me and I will set you up.

New Platform for DELE Prep

I'm new here, so a quick intro. I'm Geoff, and I built a Spanish practice tool called Dioma (dioma.com) with a curriculum built by adult-focused Spanish tutors. For DELE prep the hardest part for a lot of you is the exact thing Dioma is built for, the Oral and Written sections.

It's aimed at B1-C1, which is right where most people prepping for the DELE are. Our application is live and stable today.

Full transparency: I'm the founder.
I'd like to give free access to up to 20 DELE learners (11 spots left!) for up to 3 months. The only ask is honest feedback along the way (and a testimonial if you end up liking it!).

If you want in, comment here, DM me or email me at geoff@dioma.com and let me know you're prepping for the DELE. Happy to answer any questions in the thread too.

Intermediate and Advanced Spanish

I'm Geoff, and I built a Spanish practice tool focused on intermeidate and advanced learners (B1-C1) called Dioma. We have a curriculum built by adult-focused Spanish tutors.

The whole idea of Dioma. You practice speaking and writing prompts and get real-time corrections on what you actually produced, so you can build up your output without needing a tutor booked for every session. It's aimed at B1-C1 and our application is live and stable today.

I'd like to give free access to up to 20 B1-C1 Spanish learners for up to 3 months. The only ask is honest feedback along the way (and a testimonial if you end up liking it!).

If you want in, comment here, DM me or email me at geoff@dioma.com. Happy to answer any questions in the thread too.

Hebrew Founding Cohort

Hi all!

Some of you have seen me post here a handful of times during development, and this community has been genuinely helpful and kind every time. So first, thank you. It meant a lot while I was heads-down building.

Quick update: it's live and it's stable.

I'm putting together a small founding group of serious Hebrew learners to use it free for a few months in exchange for honest feedback (and maybe a testimonial if you like it!) as they go. If you've been following along and want in, comment here or email me at geoff@dioma.com. And truly, thank you all again for the support along the way.

New Resources from Dioma

There was great feedback a few months ago when I shared what I was doing with Dioma with this group. The application has gotten more stable over the last few months and I wanted to share that I just launched a Hebrew learning hub. Whether you're interested in us or not, take a look.

We have 10 Hebrew articles up, including things like intermediate-focused Netflix recommendations to how to stop needing Nikkud to read.

If you have any specific areas you'd like us to add, let me know!
