Nabbed these two drums for $40 a piece. They worth it or garbage?

Stopped in at the LGS to look at a few things they just got in, and these two romanian drum mags were sittin on the desk. I shot em the offer and they took it! My question is: who got the better deal lol

This is my Saiga. There are many like it, but this one is mine

Picked this guy up awhile back and got it out for some proper range time today. Whoever owned this before me… well they made some choices. She shoots great, and the small steps towards converting it were at least solid.

No worries though, Im not leaving her lookin like this for long, i plan in doing a 103 conversion (as soon as the iglim conversion parts are back in stock)

Just wanted to share the poor thing a little haha! Have a good day yall!

Figured id share one you dont see as often!

This is my recently acquired 1891/59! Its a 43 izzy receiver sitting in an M38 stock. The fireballs are glorious haha

My 1862 Springfield that came home the other day

This is my 1862 Springfield that i brought home with the Harper’s Ferry from my previous post. Has the bayonet with what i can assume to be an original leather scabbard!

This one is also in incredible condition. Id say you could probably fire this if you wanted, but id say this old girl has done enough shootin already!

New to me Model 1855 Harper’s Ferry

Just brought this 1860 production Model 1855 Harper’s Ferry! This one kinda caught my eye as theres a few things that are not original, yet, look to be from the period.

For starters, the rear sight has a peep sight, and i dont think ive seen this on an 1855 before.
Secondly, the ram rod looks to be from an 1861 Springfield. You can see at the screw end where its been crusel chiseled shorter, and where the swell in the rod is for an 1861, this one has been shaved down to fit this rifle.

The mechanism for the tape is no longer present, and it seems to have been converted for use with regular percussion caps.

Overall the condition is very nice given that its 166 years old. Hell, the rifling is still present!

Enjoy!

Oh and its the 165th anniversary of The Battle of Wilson’s Creek!

Just took home this Valmet, hoping to find some answers about it

Was super stoked when i got the opportunity to grab a Valmet in 7.62x39. (Yes theres an irony to slapping a russian bake in a finnish gun, i couldnt resist it) but this has lead me to have a few questions and i hoped this community might be able to help me:

Now, im not an expert, and the LGS (which is definitely not always the expert) had this labeled as an M76, and i thought it was odd. To my knowledge the only Milled receiver M76s were the 308s (correct me if im wrong)

I was wondering if this is an M62S, which all had milled receivers. Looking at references online, all the M62S I see have the cheese grater hand guard, and ofc this has the M76 style hand guard.

Just wanted to see what others have seen with these and hopefully get a little clarity on what exactly i have here. Theres no model stamped anywhere on it, ive included all the stampings i see. Thanks in advance yall

The Valmet came home yesterday!

Slapped this in a layaway a little while ago and finally brought her home today. Got her apart, wanted to make sure she was oiled and lookin good.

Brought home this model 1907 Dreyse today

Brought this and 5 other guns home today (dont worry there will be more photos haha)

This thing is so HEAVY. You can also definitely tell that they were dancing around Browning’s patents haha.

It shoots, however it FTF every round. The rounds get stuck halfway up the feed ramp. Ill drop the mag, get the slide forward and i notice the striker isnt cocked. Im gonna get it cleaned up and look at buying some replacements springs (if they exist).

Regardless its a really top heavy pistol that is damn pleasant to shoot!

Wanted to get some of the Old Guard out to the range today

They dont always get shot, but you gotta make sure the oldies still get their steps in!

Starr Calvary Carbine

The patent was filed for these things in 1858, however they didnt get adopted into military service until 1862 due to the American Civil War.
Roughly 20,000 of these things were produced up to 1865, which, they started making a rimfire variant in 56-50.

These breech loaders are 54 Caliber.

The bore (i tried to get a good photo lol) given its age, is in very decent condition. Sadly theres a small crack in the stock and the nipples is broken. Thats alright though as this is probably one of the few guns i wont shoot (mostly cause i dont want to make the cartridges for it)

These generally saw service in the western and transmississippi theatre.

The 1st Arkansas Calvary, (made up of southern unionists), the 5th Kansas Calvary, 11th Missouri Calvary, and 24th New York Calvary all were issued these guns.

I believe this gun was probably manufactured in 1863, going off serial number!

Hope you enjoy!

Well, I did not expect to snag something like this today (or ever)

My LGS gave me a call to come down and look at a few things they had just bought in. The true grail gun was a B-West imported Izhevsk Tiger with scope, all matching. Unfortunately, that wasnt in the realm of possibility right now.

The preban M76 Valmet milled receiver in 7.62x39 however is, so i put that on a layaway real quick.

It doesnt have a mag, and ive read conflicting things online about it. I plan on trying to snag some originals, but i figured id ask, will standard AKM pattern mags work in this thing? TIA

44 Cal Model 1858 Starr Double Action

This is my 44 caliber model 1858 Starr Double action. These were produced commercially and martially once the American Civil War broke out. This one is a relatively low serial number, 4004 out of approximately 23,000 Double Action models.

It wasnt uncommon for Union officers to purchase these personally for a side arm.

Overall the double action models wasnt well received by the troops as it was a more complicated system. The main trigger you see does not fire the gun, but cocks the hammer. At the back of the trigger guard is the firing trigger. Theres an adjustable metal plate on the back of the cocking trigger that can act as a block so you can fire in single action. The troops, being used to other single action revolvers, would often jam the gun up by just pulling the hammer back with their thumb, which has can have the unfortunate effect of getting the timing thrown off.

In 1863, Starr started producing a single action only variant.

After approximately 166 years, the bore on this thing is in pretty damn good condition id say

FN1900 Extraction Issues

Alright, I picked this guy up for like $500 a few weeks ago and have shot it twice. The first mag i shot through it, not a single case would extract. I would have to rack the slide, pull the trigger and drop the sear, then with the next slide rack it would eject. Every round would do that.

I just went out to test it again for this post and the first round extracted normally, but the second round didnt (i only loaded 2)

The picture where you can see the rim of the case was after i pulled the slide back a little bit. I then did what i wrote above here, rack, pull trigger, rack again, and it would extract.

The bore on this thing is rough, but the pistol goes into battery (it seems). I included the two fired cases, where i thought the scratches and bulge were… mildly concerning. Anybody have some insight on the issue?

Later today im gonna get a brass brush on a drill and scrub the hell out of the bore to make sure there isnt excess gunk in there. Dunno if its in need of a new extractor or if theres something im missing

Just brought this Yugo home today, curious about a few things!

From my (extremely) brief looking online, i believe this is a late 1970 production M59/66A1. I was curious if anyone had some insight into what the numbers on the side of the upper handguard and the bottom of the magazine?

Also, what have you guys done to freshen up the night sights if possible

Thats one more off the list of grail guns

I can only wish i paid what the guy who posted earlier did haha.

Wartime commercial in 7.63 Mauser, fantastic shape, matching, plus the stock. Definitely going to order a few reproduction parts for the like one time a year ill probably shoot this.

Plus i felt it appropriate to use a round of 43 Mauser to prop up the gun which definitely didnt work haha

Picked this fella up yesterday, perfect for WGW

Ruger Old Army, 1972, first year production, one of the first 2500! Grabbed it for $700, with the cartridge conversion cylinder included, so id say that was a pretty good buy!

u/GesuMotorsport — 3 months ago

Almost missed WGW

Figured id share my most recent wheel gun acquisition, a model 1887 Swedish Nagant in 7.5x22R Swedish!
