Groceries are way too expensive right now. KOHO is doing something about it for one lucky Canadian.

We're giving away 10 years of free groceries. A whole decade. How it works: the winner gets $500/month in credits to your KOHO account for 10 years (120 months). That means a total prize value of $60,000.

  1. Download the KOHO app
  2. Open an account
  3. Add money, and you're in

Already have an active KOHO account with a balance? You're already entered.

How to earn more entries:

+10 entries: Set up Direct Deposit and receive a payment during the contest

+10 entries per referral: Each friend who opens a KOHO account = 10 more entries for you

+10 entries per feature you use: Try Credit Building, Cover, Pay Later, eSIM, Tenant Insurance, Travel Insurance, CyberScout cyber protection, Line of Credit, or open a Crypto account

The more you use KOHO, the better your odds.

Contest ends July 31, 2026. Drop any questions in the comments.

No purchase required. The campaign begins June 15, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. ET and ends July 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET. There is 1 reward available to be won: one (1) grand prize of "10 Years of Free Groceries," awarded as KOHO account credits of $500 CAD per month for 120 months (approximate total value $60,000 CAD). How to protect yourself from fraud

Fraud and scams are getting more sophisticated, especially with new tech like AI and deepfakes. Here are some quick tips to help you stay safe and know what to expect from KOHO.

Suspicious texts or calls

Scammers often pretend to be your bank or a trusted company to get you to share info or click a link.

Here’s what you need to know about KOHO:

  • KOHO will never contact you unexpectedly by phone or text.
  • We will never ask for sensitive information like your password, PIN, or security codes over the phone or through text.
  • If you get a message claiming to be from KOHO and something feels off, do not reply or click anything.

What to do instead:
Open the KOHO app and contact us directly through in-app support. If it’s legit, we’ll confirm it there.

Suspicious links

A common scam: You get a text that looks like it’s from your bank saying your account is locked or there’s “urgent” suspicious activity, with a link to “fix” it.

Important reminders:

  • KOHO will never send you a link via text asking you to log in or verify your information.
  • Scammers create urgency (“your account will be closed in 30 minutes”) to make you click without thinking.

What to do instead:
Ignore the link. Go directly to the KOHO app or our official website, or contact us through in-app support.

Deepfakes & AI-generated images

Scammers are starting to use AI-generated photos and videos to impersonate real people and bypass security checks.

  • These images and videos can look extremely realistic and are often impossible to spot with the naked eye.
  • In real-world cases (not involving KOHO), hackers have used AI-generated identity documents and videos to pass verification and gain access to accounts.

✅ What to do instead:
If anything about a message, call, or request feels off—trust your instincts.
Stop, double-check, and verify directly by contacting KOHO through the app or our official channels.

Crypto scams

Crypto scams are on the rise, and they often start with big promises and high pressure.

Common red flags:

  • Unsolicited messages about “exclusive” or “limited-time” investment opportunities
  • Promises of guaranteed or unusually high returns
  • Requests to pay only in cryptocurrency
  • Pressure to act immediately or “miss out”

Remember: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

And very importantly: KOHO will never ask you to send cryptocurrency.

KOHO will never invest on your behalf or DM you asking you to move money into a “special” investment.

If you’re ever unsure about anything: Don’t click. Don’t share. Don’t rush.

Contact us directly through the KOHO app or via our official support channels.

You can also post here (without sharing personal details), and we can help point you in the right direction.

Stay safe out there!
Thanks for looking out for yourselves and each other.

Direct deposit timing: what's actually happening (and why it isn't broken)

Hey everyone,

Direct deposit timing is one of the things we get the most questions about which is totally fair, because payday is stressful and the timing genuinely does shift around. We wanted to put together one place that explains what's going on behind the scenes, so you have a reference whenever something feels off.

Here's the key thing to know: we process deposits the moment we receive them. No internal queue, no holding period, no "release window" on our end. As soon as a deposit hits us, it's in your account.

So why does the timing seem to shift?
Direct deposits in Canada move through Payments Canada, which runs scheduled clearing windows throughout the day. When a deposit reaches us depends on:

  • When your employer (or the sender) submits the payment
  • Which Payments Canada exchange window it lands in
  • How that window lines up with weekends and holidays

Those windows can shift which batch your payment lands in from month to month, which is why the same paycheck might show up Wednesday evening one month and Thursday morning the next. We don't control that schedule, but we'll always pass the money through the moment it reaches us.

Why "early" deposits can create confusion

We often pass paychecks through before payday because we release them as soon as we get them. That early arrival isn't guaranteed; it depends entirely on when the sender pushes the payment. So when a deposit lands on your actual payday, it can feel "late" compared to the early ones, even though it's arriving right on time. The simplest way to think about it: an early deposit is a bonus, not a baseline.

If your deposit feels off, here's what helps

  1. Check the actual payday your employer scheduled - that's the date the money is due, not the earliest it might arrive.
  2. If it hasn't landed by end of day on your scheduled payday, your employer can confirm when the payment was submitted on their end.
  3. If it's been more than 24 hours past your scheduled payday and your employer confirms it was sent, reach out to support and we'll dig in.

We know waiting on a paycheck is stressful, and we appreciate you bringing questions to us - we'd rather you ask than wonder! Hopefully this gives you a clearer picture of how the timing works so you can spot what's normal and what's worth a closer look.
