I've been out of the loop for a while and was wondering if this deck makes sense in the current meta.

Hi everyone, these are my pickups for the current month.

I decided to dive back into movie collecting after spending many years focusing mainly on video games for consoles and manga.

I'm particularly proud that I managed to snag that nice Kill Bill 4K box set at a great price—paid under €40 for it when it's still listed at 110 (at that price, buying it would have been really hard to justify for me).

The Pasolini Trilogy of Life box set arrived damaged, so I'm starting the return process, though I plan to replace it as soon as possible. I'm very attached to those films.

(My previous post was taken down by Reddit, I think because I showed the cover art for Kill Bill or Trilogy of Life. I guess some weird safety filter got triggered, so I went ahead and removed those images).

Could you recommend the most reliable and well-stocked European stores to purchase movies from? I usually rely on Amazon.

I recently discovered Fan Factory! But they don't seem to have a very large selection.

I’d love to discover some stores that offer the chance to find slightly less mainstream titles, and not necessarily just recent releases.

I am located in Italy.

I am getting back into watching movies on physical media, and I was considering the possibility of purchasing a dedicated player.

I have always been a console gaming enthusiast and I own quite a few of them. Right now under my TV I have a PS5, PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox One S, and others that don't really matter for this discussion.

I am trying to understand if switching to a dedicated player can actually result in a noticeable increase in perceived visual quality.

I use two TVs: a 65" HiSense U8Q 2025 and a 55" LG CX.

Lately, I watch movies mostly on the first one since, as strange as it may seem, I am preferring mini-LED technology over OLED.

The features I am looking for are mainly:

- HDR10+ and Dolby Vision

- Dolby Atmos compatibility, even though I don't have a home theater setup

- DVD / Blu-ray / 4K / Audio CD (for DVDs I also have a dedicated Toshiba, but I would prefer to have an all-in-one device)

- Subtitle brightness adjustment (not essential)

- Region-free (not essential)

My question to those who already use the UB820 is: what makes this player better than a PS5 besides the ability to use Dolby Vision? The upscaling of sub-HD content? The quality of the HDR color gamut?

Would there actually be such a gap in quality between the PS5 and the UB820 to justify the purchase?

Here in Europe, I see the price is around €400; my gamer soul immediately makes me think that with that money, I could almost buy a Switch 2.
