I’m attending a legal conference towards the end of Jan and want to host a dinner, maybe 6-8 people, for colleagues that are in my specific industry. I’m covering the bill, I want it to be really good food, a memorable experience, and an opportunity to network/connect substantively. I am not a new attorney, but relatively new in this particular org’s space, so I want to take initiative to establish myself. Budget is flexible- not sky high, but I am ok paying for something that feels worth it. The last time I was in New Orleans was maybe 20 years ago so want to ask folks who actually know the current scene. Your advice is welcome and appreciated. Thank you!

I’ve been invited to join a group of legal colleagues (I only know 1 of the 3) in their foursome for a golf event. I warned them that I am very bad, but they’ve said that they all are and it will just be fun. So I figure why not- even if it’s worse than I imagine, if I am not athletic, I will simply buy them a round after to make up for my poor performance. Question is- what the heck do I wear? I am plus sized, don’t really like showing my arms or wearing shorts in public. I also don’t want to look like a bumpkin. Please help.

Is anyone in New Jersey that plays and knows how to tune a dholak/dholki? I am not a trained percussionist and only play the same couple of rhythms. The treble side sounds great right now, and I was able to tune it to the same key all around. The bass side has lost its juice- I don’t know how else to describe it and I don’t know how to fix it. If you or someone you know is in NJ and would be available to help, let me know, please. Happy to pay for their time.
