I have a 2014 with about 130,000 miles on it. The car has been great to me as the second owner. All scheduled maintenance is taken care of regularly. Oil changes every 5k.

In the two years I’ve had her, I’ve gotten the “death rattle” shaky engine on startup maybe three times. From what I’ve researched, it seems these isolated events could have been caused by shutting the car off shortly after turning it on while the motor is still running. Other than that, no problems.

I was considering having the EGR system and manifold serviced as preventative maintenance given the reported issues with the head gasket.

A Prius specialty shop quoted $495 for the aforementioned services. Worthwhile preventive maintenance, or a waste of money?
