Queensland Donkey Advice

Good morning! I am looking for advice on how to care for ,and buy , suitable donkeys for interacting with people in a therapeutic way( not guardian role). I need to learn all the important things before buying a pair. It will be Queensland Australia so ideally someone who knows about donkeys there who can mentor me to make the right decisions. Is it best to buy older well socialised donkeys or start from scratch with a mum and baby etc? Open to all useful advice. Also types of set up I need to look for in the property I buy eg stables? field/enclosure sizes needed, type of fencing etc. I suppose I should ask if anyone on here has written a good book! ?
Do you need to find a farrier locally and if so how often do you guys use one? (every 6 weeks? longer?)
Any specific things/types to avoid temperament wise? Are miniature ones or standard ones more likely to have health issues/behaviour issues or just the same. I’m thinking they may be helpful for adults and children? Life long goal but just starting research for May /June next year .

Adult beetle food?

Hi everyone! I have just started growing mealworms and have got some finally to the beetle stage. I currently have three trays.. mealworms, pupae and beetles. My question is how do I feed the beetles. They are currently just sitting up in small groups at the top of my cardboard cartons and seem to be ignoring the carrot and oat bran. Are they eating at night or should I add some whole oats? Some people say lettuce but I don’t want mould.
Also I had a tiny ant invasion of the pupae box today which I spotted and stopped but how do I deter them? I am an organic gardener so don’t want to use pesticides. How do people keep out ants? Mine are currently inside but will go outside when the weather warms up. Thanks for any advice.

[actives] Has anyone used neem coir instead of coconut coir and found it ok as a substrate?

Hi I bought this thinking it was coco coir but discovered it says neem coir?? ! Has anyone tried it and is it ok to use/better/worse than coconut coir? Thanks! If no one knows I will have to do an experiment with both in separate tubs!

Anyone have an organic solution?

Hello fellow organic gardeners! Can anyone suggest an organic solution to these? They are having a great party under the eves of my cabin and really causing problems in my hanging baskets! I don’t want to hurt my plants or anything friendly that might eat them but they are getting to a plague proportion! Thanks for any advice!

Ovestin vs Vagifem Australia

Hi! For those who experience irritation from Ovestin (it was driving me crazy every time the pessary started melting (so itchy and uncomfortable) , the Vagifem is a tiny pessary and comes with handy applicator and has no side effects at all so far. Such a relief to have a non cream option for vaginal insertion that doesn’t have irritation on use. I’m sure the Ovestin doesn’t irritate some folks but it was getting more and more irritating for me to the point I couldn’t use it. Also the vagifem seems to be causing less annoying discharge (for those who find such things annoying). Just thought I would mention as sometimes you can ask when you get your script! I think it is a slightly lower dose but it is much better than no dose if you can’t use other options!
