First 2 photos are in the small tank 100% water changes daily. last 2 photos are in the tank a couple days. I had these 2 friends in a 10 gallon with daily water swaps for 6 weeks. Their tank finally finished cycling (water levels are literally perfect) but since i moved them in, it seems their gills are less vibrant? could the small tank/tub water have been causing them to be more vibrant from irritation? My Albino has extremely long gills that sometimes flopped over while tubbed and i assumed it was just how they laid since they are long but since moving to the big tank they arent flopped<3
These are 4 tests from 1. Saturday, 2. Monday, and 3. Tuesday all roughly 24 hours after dosing to 2ppm (roughly as in typically ive tested 1-2 hours before it being 24 hours) 4th picture is this morning at 8:30am when i dosed to 2ppm ammonia yesterday at about 1:30pm so 19 hours. (AMMONIA IS ALWAYS 0 ASWELL). I don’t want to get too excited..
this is all i can see when i look at them lol… (thats a reflection on my glass not a crack!!)
Yall oh my god. Please SOS 💔 At the start of my cycle (a month ago) i overdosed Ammonia and have been paying for it since. Once i noticed the issue, i did a 50-60% water change of my 70gal and I THOUGHT it evened out. I continued dosing my Ammonia to 2ppm and it was cycling perfectly (0ppm in less than 24hrs) and both Nitrites and Nitrates were appearing, but after a few days my nitrite test started acting weird so i did a dilution test and saw it was SKY high. I did another big water change and then actually reduced my total tank Gal to about 45 (i will be getting a smaller tank soon for when my axis go in as the 70 is too big) today i did a dilution test again and its SO HIGH. So i did a HUGE (75%) water change and even added extra water it’s at about 60gal and its STILL high. I did a 25% diluted test and the Nitrite result is still sitting at like 2-5ppm. Do i need to DRAIN my whole tank??💔 Picture shows my 25% tank water 75% tap water test (tap has 0 nitrites) im sooo sad i messed this up. Is it crashed? It was still cycling the Ammonia (i havent dosed in 2 days to see if nitrites would drop) so i’m hoping thats an ok sign?
So i’m cycling and in the ‘waiting for nitrites to drop’ phase. This is so random but, for weeks when i tested my nitrites, if i happened to forget to wash the tube out and came back the next morning it would still be vibrant purple/pink (like 2ppm color). Now that my nitrite is starting to consistently test lower (0.5-1ppm after the 5 minute waiting mark) after maybe 30 more minutes, the test tube will be the color of 0ppm or slightly 0.25 color? I know this is why its important to read at 5 minutes but just curious what could make this happen now but not before lol?? Pic showing the color it changed to after a bit after being about 1ppm color before.
I’m a month into my cycle and my nitrites wouldnt go down so i tested my tap and it has them. I am purchasing a RO system right now but want to make sure…if i do a 100% water change with RO water will this crash my cycle since the nitrates will be gone too?
FIRST photo is in my kitchen lighting (bulbs are a little bit yellow toned) SECOND photo is natural lighting.
🚩THIRD photo is me mixing 2.5ml of ammonia free water with 2.5ml of tank water and testing.🚩 Help please what do you think the actual reading is? I did the method of mixing half and half because i was worried my level was over 8ppm but just not sure at this point? (Axl is not in tank)
Just found out my tap water has very high nitrites naturally. I am a couple weeks into cycling a 70 gallon. Do i need to empty it and start over with water from an external source?):
my Axies (both about 4 inches long) were doing amazing for a week in their big (70gal) tank, but something happened with my cycle (my nitrites and ammonia spiked after 6 full days of them in the tank so I believe my cycle was not properly finished as I thought it was or i did something wrong, completely my mistake..) so i had to tub them to figure it out. I figured they would be fine together but one night over night (in a 56qt it is rectangle and filled about 12 inches deep) and i woke up to this mark on one of their tails. The place we got them from literally had them kept in 25 gallon tanks with 7-10 other axies (which i know is not correct but they were unfortunately doing it) and they all were getting a long so I really had no big concerns. They are both fed at least 2 times a day sometimes 3 if they are begging later in the day and again in the big tank nothing like this ever appeared….They both ate only one piece of worm this morning (blanched and cut up) when they usually both eat like a whole worm or 2. I feel so stressed about them not having their big home💔
