Hi, this is a landscape I have worked on over the last couple of days after work without any planning. I just started with an idea and rolled with it. I have done multiple levels of detail from simple colors and shapes to what I currently have, and I'd love some construction crit and advice from others who have done landscapes in the past.
I didn't use a reference, this is my work, it's acrylic on canvas.
What would you do differently? Where would you stop your level of detail at? And really what I find myself struggling with, how do you all do your distant objects? I could really use some advice on how to achieve atmospheric perception (I think that's the term?).I find it difficult to translate a vision to paper when it starts to become distant from your focus. Is there part of my process that I should do differently?
Thank you :)
This is kind of a practice piece for multiple things I find myself struggling with. Depth, perception, atmosphere, lighting, shadows, etc. I will probably add to this for a long time, as the small size of the canvas and finer details will help me understand the process of painting better, but for now I think I'm going to pause on it. Ultimately, I'm pleased with the outcome.
Is there anything you'd do differently? Advice is welcomed. Thank you.
I just wanted to share my first self portrait. Acrylics on canvas, glass, and wood.
I am very happy with this and thought it a fun challenge. I get into weeks long hyper fixations with art once or twice a year, and this time around I started painting.
Thanks for viewing. Open to crit.
There's plenty of room for improvement, I just started painting with acrylics a week ago and have only done a few watercolors, but I loved this challenge and I am very happy with the outcome.
I am open to crit. Thank you.
