Has anyone improved finances through divorce?

My wife had a high-paying job and holds an advanced graduate degree in a STEM field.

She quit without a plan or discussion about 7 months ago. My income represented about 60% of our total income when she was working and now she’s a SAHM.

She doesn’t want to go back to work and has been awful to me during this time.

I had a consultation with a divorce attorney and he explained a judge would impute her previous income in alimony and child support calculations. While doing some rough math, I figure I may actually end up better off (not including attorneys fees) if I divorce compared to continuing to support her in her “retired” lifestyle. (We’re both 41 btw).

What am I missing here?

She told me she wants to divorce. What now?

My wife told me she’s done and is contacting attorneys. She also sent me a text saying that she wants me to allow her to buy out the house and pay her child support. (She’s a SAHM)

No major issues.. no infidelity (that I’m aware of) abuse or anything like that. We have just grown apart and have been conflicted with parenting issues. She refuses therapy because she says it gives her anxiety.

I know I need to talk to an attorney, but should I wait until she serves me? What do I do with this proposal? It’s obviously not agreeable.
