I’ve read that 15.5 cm is the upper limit for hepatomegaly—or that this number is considered high. The person who performed the ultrasound didn't say anything, but I’m really scared; a year ago, it measured 12 cm. 😔
Finding:
The liver measures 15.5 cm and demonstrates normal echogenicity and echotexture without evidence of focal hepatic mass or diffuse parenchymal abnormality. The hepatic vasculature is unremarkable.
I suffer from anxiety and am afraid I have alcoholic hepatitis. I had an ultrasound done and everything came back fine, but I got scared about having hepatitis because of my liver size—15.5 cm, which is at the upper limit of normal. I don't have any symptoms at all. Here are my results,

and I'm even more worried because I had a scan a year ago that listed the measurements as: RL: 12 cm, LL: 3.8 cm. The new one just says 15 cm without specifying the lobes, but I assume it refers to the RL. Does this mean it grew 3 cm in a year? Please help if anyone knows about this. 😭😭😭 I know blood test is better but I spend my money in ultrasound
I've had a sharp pain under my right rib. It comes and goes in a second, then hours pass and it comes back, sometimes several times at the same time. They aren't strong. These past few days I've also felt it under my left rib. I don't know if it's because of fear? What if the only real pain is in my right rib and my fear and nerves are making me feel like it's in my left too? I'm worried because I've read that the liver is there. This started about two weeks ago. A year ago I had a general exam for other reason all good.. and all my AST and ALT levels were normal. Does anyone know what a damaged liver feels like?
