I am making my own visual remaster patch for 3.3.5a client because I don't value my time
As you can tell not every texture in the pics is remastered but it's been a fun two days of doing this so far. I've also built a tracker of BLPs that dedupes blizzards duplicates so I can see where I'm at. Not even 0.1% there in 2 days. Ohhh well.
Unlike most upscales, I am processing each image individually through GPT's Image 2, before making color/level/vibrance changes in Photoshop. A key here is to upscale default blizz textures to a higher resolution so the AI model knows what is up given that they're mostly trained on 1k+ resolution images.
Is it worth it? I don't know. It's fun and I like how it looks though LOL
EDIT: I almost forgot to mention - for those who wish to try this themselves: Photoshop's "Match color" algorithm is exceptional for matching the otherwise random luminosity/color intensity of AI generated textures. It helps a ton matching different textures of a single wmo so there's no visible seams!
