Nappy bag recommendations

I am travelling overseas in a couple of months and am looking for a nappy bag to use. I currently have the Oooo backpack but I find it doesn’t actually fit a whole lot. I was thinking of taking the Kmart one as I find it’s easier to access and bigger. Any other recommendations?
I was also thinking of getting a crossbody type bag for everyday use, I’ve seen the Lululemon bag being used as a small nappy bag, any experiences with this?

Combo feeding

For the last three to four weeks I have started combo feeding my almost six month old. I was previously exclusively breast feeding, but have now introduced two bottles of formula per day.. I’m a bit stuck on which feed to substitute next! Here is our current feeding schedule:

0800 BF
11-11.30 Formula
2.30-3 BF
6-6.30 Formula
8-8.15 pre bed BF top up

Usually wakes once overnight - BF

Any advice on which to substitute next? I was thinking maybe the overnight feed? I am super prone to clogged ducts so I’m trying to take it really slow to avoid them.

Also, I have been using the Little Oak goat milk which she has had no issues with so far. (We tried the mummamoo but she broke out in a whole body rash. Gp thinks it wasn’t to do with the formula as I’m having dairy products and says it was probably coincidental, but I’m too scared to try cows milk formula again).
Is it ok to continue with goat milk or should I try cows milk again??

Thanks

Teething 5 month old!

My LO is 5.5 months old and is teething! Shes constantly grabbing at her gums and seems quite uncomfortable. I have been using some teething gel and last night I gave some Panadol and she slept really well!

Do you think it’s ok to give a dose at night again??

Also any tips to help with the teething?

Every single teether I give her she’ll use for about 5 secs before throwing it on the floor!!!

If my bag falls asleep very quickly, does this means she’s overtired?

I have previously posted here regarding sleep training my five month old and also possibly wanting to get rid of the dummy.

For a bit of context, she only really uses the dummy to sleep, I put her down with it and she will fall asleep, however, she can’t replace it which means that I’m having to go in to do it for her.

She wakes up at around 7.15-7.45 am , WW 2.5/2.52.5/2.74, naps are around 30 minutes in the cot but I try and extend one of them (she has three naps)

After waking up around 6-8 times last night I made the decision to drop the dummy tonight to see how she goes. I don’t think she is extremely dependent on it as she has fallen asleep without it before so I thought I might give it a go. I was also prepared to do some form of sleep training if needed.

I put her down awake, she fussed for about 4-5 minutes and then fell asleep… it was so easy that I’m a little worried almost.. was she just overtired and that’s why she fell asleep so quickly?

Now I’m concerned about the overnight wakes! Do I let her cry? Or go in and comfort her???

I find it so infuriating how many people are interested in how I feed my baby!

I have a five month old who I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding (just this week I have introduced one bottle of formula a day) and the amount of people that ask about it (so openely) is insane.

Since she’s been born, before even asking how I am the first question is always “are you breastfeeding?” Followed by “is your flow enough?” Like , excuse me!

I find it so crazy that people are able to ask these questions so carelessly. Like really? Yes my flow is enough it’s been keeping her happy and healthy all this time!

“Are you JUST breastfeeding?” , “good good don’t give formula” ughhh it’s so annoying!

It made the decision to slowly transition to formula so difficult and I felt so guilty because it’s always been made to seem like it’s such a terrible thing.. I haven’t even told anyone because I don’t want to deal with all the comments..

I would never ask anyone how they feed their baby because fed is best. It is mainly the older generation I find asking these questions but it’s still super insensitive.

Just a little rant haha

Heya! So I’m trying to figure out if this was a fluke or if 15 minutes of awake time really made a difference. A bit of background.

I have a 22 week old who isn’t formally sleep trained but goes down for naps and bedtime fairly easily (dummy goes in, she falls asleep). We transferred her to her own room at the beginning of the week.

She’s on three naps at 30,~1.5,30 and wake windows are 2.25-2.5/2.5/2.5/2.5-2.75.

The first two nights were rough, she was up every hour and wouldn’t settle back in the cot (note: she had total awake time of around 9.75).

The night before yesterday she had awake time of 10 hrs and ended up going down at around 2020, had a false start but when straight to sleep at 2100, then slept until 2am! Which hasn’t happened in forever!! Fed her and she slept til 0730….

Last night her awake time was just short of 10 hours (9.75) and again, she was up every hour!

So my question is, was it a fluke or did the extra 15 minutes of awake time actually help?!

Note: I was fully prepared to sleep train her but then she ended up doing the long stretch of sleep that same night😂

I’m going to push for 10 hours again today and see how she goes but that last wake window is such a struggle!!! Any tips are appreciated 😅😅😅😅

My LO is 5 months old and uses the dummy for both naps and night sleep. She falls asleep very quickly with it without any other intervention.

At bedtime she’ll use it fall asleep and sometimes won’t wake up wanting it if it falls out. But some nights she’ll wake up every 30-60 minutes wanting it put back in.

She’ll usually wake up for two feeds and will fall asleep pretty much instantly after and won’t need the dummy.

If I was to go cold turkey with the dummy for night sleep, should I use another method to settle her (eg rocking) until she gets used to not using the dummy, or should I start sleep training?

I posted on here a couple of days ago about wanting to start formula feeding but was feeling really guilty but I just wanted to say that I gave my baby her first bottle and she took it perfectly fine!!!

I’m just a little stuck on how much I should be making up..

So she usually breastfeeds 6 times a day, but if I go off the formula tin for her age (5 months) it states she should be having 200ml 4-5 times a day.

She only drank around 150mls , so should I only make up around 150 instead of 200? I’m only substituting one feed at the moment.

Any tips are appreciated:)

Why do I feel so guilty about potentially switching to formula?

For context, I have been EBF my LO for 5 months and am thinking of slowly starting transitioning to formula , but I feel sooooo guilty when I think about it! I think it’s because my breastfeeding journey hasn’t been too terrible (except for the first month or two) so I feel like I almost don’t have a good enough reason to stop.

I find myself thinking about switching so often but just can’t take that step to actually do it.

I’m all for fed is best but I’m also worried about not being able to comfort my LO properly ughhhhhhh having such mixed feelings!!!

Also, if anyone has any tips on how to transition that would be great 😅🥲

My baby is 5mo and I’m wanting to start sleep training.

She’s currently in her cot in my bedroom and uses the dummy to help sleep.

She woke up every 1-2 hours last night and wouldn’t settle without a feed (she would previously still sleep 2-3 hour stretches).

I’m thinking of moving her to her own room, ST and possibly getting rid of the dummy for night sleep.

Is this possible? Hahah

I’m thinking of trying a modified Ferber with shorter check in times, can someone explain to me how I do it?

For example, if she cries and then slows down do I reset the timer? How long should I be in the room for?

Also can I st at night and still contact nap for one nap during the day? (She’s a serial 30 minute nap per so I try contact napping once so she gets at least an hour nap once.

Thanks

I have been EBF for just over five months (with a few bottles of breast milk here and there but none in the last couple of months). I am so torn about what I want to do regarding stopping breastfeeding. Although my journey has been ok I just feel like the mental load is starting to take a toll and I would love to just have my body back to be honest.

I am thinking of possible slowly starting to combo feed but how do I do this???

Do I introduce one bottle to replace a feed for a few days and then keep going? What do I do for the engorgement? I’m very prone to clogged ducts aswell so that worries me!!

Any help is appreciated!!!!

I have a few questions regarding sleep training as I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with all the info out there..

I think I just need some reassurance and/or encouragement to be honest….

A little background info:

I have a 21 week old who isn’t the most terrible sleeper..

her schedule often varies here and there but generally ww 2/2.25/2.25-2.5/2.5 , she only naps 30 minutes but I try and save one or two naps so she gets more day sleep. If unsuccessful she’ll usually have four naps ( to be honest every day is different). She wakes in the morning 7-7.45 and I try to get her down by 8pm latest.

With naps, I place her in her cot and she will often fall asleep semi-independently (she uses a dummy/paci and I will sometimes need to pop it back in for her if it falls out before she sleeps). If I try and save the nap by contact napping it will usually take minimum 30-40 minutes before she’s back asleep and will stay asleep for 30-60 mins.

For bedtime it’s the same. She’ll fall asleep with the dummy but will often spit it out once she’s asleep. Some nights she’ll have 3-4 hour stretches with a couple of feeds and sometimes (like last night) she will wake up every hour wanting it put back in. Most nights she’ll have a fade start 45-60 mins after going down. She’s EBF and after feeds she pretty much falls back asleep straight away.

  1. I am wanting to transition her into her own room but what’s holding me back is the dummy and having to go in and replace it (she can’t quite do it herself yet)
  2. If I was to continue with the dummy how does sleep training work? For example, if I was to do a modified Ferber do I wait for the intervals to replace the dummy?
  3. What if I go cold turkey with the dummy? Can I keep it for naps only or would it be best to get rid of it all together ? I also feel bad doing this as she falls asleep pretty quickly when she uses it…

I really just want her to get better sleep because I can tell we might be interrupting her sleep and I’m also a light sleeper so I’m not getting much either..
