Federal loan discharged due to disability form
Hey everyone, I have a problem and I don’t know what to do.
For some reason I have a federal loan discharged due to disability form on my my ASU account but I’ve never had any loans discharged nor do I have a disability so I’m very confused as to why this is on my account. I’ve been reaching out to financial aid and ASU’s Helpdesk, but to no avail because they either won’t answer and the few times they have answered they just tell me that I don’t have any loans discharged and that they’re confused as well as to why I have that on my account.
The only reason I can guess is because my dad was the co-signer of my parent plus loans when I was in undergrad at a completely different college. He died last year so maybe that could be what triggered it but I’m still not sure. This is holding up the processing of my aid and classes start next week. I have no idea what to do so I’m thinking of just signing the form anyway but I feel uncomfortable signing something that isn’t true so I’m lost.
TLDR- ASU put a disability loan discharge form on my account even though I’ve never had a disability or any loans discharged. Even financial aid doesn’t know why it’s there, and it’s holding up my aid with classes starting next week. I’m tempted to sign it just to get my aid processed, but I don’t want to sign something that isn’t true.
