Please give me undergrad advice 🙏🙏🙏
I am really torn about what route to take for my undergrad. For some context, I am an incoming freshman at ASU online, majoring in Biological Sciences with a biomedical studies focus. I’m an Arizona resident and going to ASU made the most sense financially. I have known for years that I wanted to go to medical school and have 220 hospital volunteering hours and 25 hospital shadowing hours across five departments. Additionally, I grew up with a MD dad and my brother is attending DO school in the fall, so I have always been around the healthcare environment. I have a boyfriend of two years who also wants to attend medical school. As difficult as it may be, we want to try to get into the same medical school, as we are attending universities in different states and would really not like to have to do eight years of long distance, if possible.
My question and reason for posting is that I don’t know if ASU online is the best choice, all things considered. I did my entire high school online, so I am familiar with how online school works. Situation wise, it fits my family’s schedule the best. I just don’t know if attending ASU online is that disadvantageous when compared to attending an ASU in person campus. Please give me some insight and advice, thank you!
Starting the Physics B.S. Program in the Fall. Looking for Advice
Hey everyone, I’m starting the Physics B.S. program this upcoming Fall and wanted to introduce myself before things kick off.
For anyone who’s been through the program (or is currently in it), I’d really appreciate hearing about:
• Which courses ended up being tougher or easier than you expected going in?
• How many hours a week you’d say you actually put into studying, especially once you got into the upper-level physics courses? Trying to figure out how to balance this with work and family life.
• Anything you wish someone had told you before you started.
Thanks in advance, looking forward to being part of this community.
My experience with ASU Online.
I started ASU online in 2020 after finishing my associate of arts for transfer in junior college. I didn't contact them actually, they contacted me, and I'll bet this gets moderated because I'm giving you my real experience and not just all the happy Yaya that people put on here, but it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I was already enrolled at California State University and when Arizona called me they mentioned that I could take online classes, but this was during covid at the end and everybody offered that. That so when I applied I thought I was getting into Arizona State, it wasn't until I was accepted that I found out there was a difference between Arizona State online and being at Arizona State and taking classes online which was how it was presented to me. But I stuck with it. I heard good things about online education. At that point I was actually kind of excited. I'm older house 43 at the time on 47 now, and when I first got accepted I played football with a couple guys back in high school that went to Arizona State and even how I chose to go to different University to play ball. I always thought highly of ASU so I got in and I was excited because I'm a psychology major and I also have an undergraduated degree in biology so I saw that they had a neuroscience program I thought would be perfect. And it was a great program in all fairness. There's some amazing professors for online that far beyond what I would ever expect from Annie online professor. They were knowledgeable. They were attentive attentive. It was amazing! And I finished my first semester with a 3.85 GPA passing all my classes which were for a full load and I was excited about second semester.
Unfortunately for me second semester was not to be. I went home. I was working out of state at the time that home from college and I actually had a stroke. Which is not as uncommon as you think being as like I said before I'm 47 years old which makes it pretty uncommon LOL. Okay but I digress. I had a stroke and when I first had it I didn't remember my name and I'm an adult. I'm married. No kids. I live alone. So I didn't have anybody to remind me that I was enrolled at Arizona State even after I got out of the hospital which was actually about a month after I went in. By the time I got enough figured out to get family there to take care of me, the hospital released me and at that point I would say I was probably about halfway through another semester at ASU. I was in no shape to be on the phone or to really be doing anything besides playing in bed recovery. At that point I was and still am legally blind from the incident and have some relatively severe at times, but back then all the time relatively severe cognitive problems and memory issues. When I found out I was in school it was actually because of collection agent had called me and wanted to know if I understood that I was suspended from Arizona State for not attending my courses at all during that semester. I was the first kind of shocked when I was starting to get back in the swing of things. Then as far as being able to ask questions and remember things, even though a lot of them were still kind of dead ends, I was recovering. So having asked around I realized that I was indeed a student at Arizona State and then I needed to resolve this. When I called back I asked to speak with someone in financial aid and I explained my situation to a woman named Sandy. She was very nice and very helpful I thought and I still don't know if any of this was malicious in all fairness but the way it worked out and the way she went about pushing it in that direction is really suspicious to me and I want to share with anyone thinking about going to online school this person had absolutely no check when it came to her power over the situation and everybody I talk to at the University refused to entertain the idea that it was even mildly not ethical. So after getting a few calls I'm not knowing what to really do with this situation because not only had I had the stroke at that point, but the radiology from having a stroke also revealed that I had thyroid cancer. So I'm fighting that as well. There's not a doctor on my entire staff that'll give me anything close to a clearance to work, and all I can do really is try and finish my education so that I can get to work that way because that's in an office. I'm not out in the heat like my other job. So there I was Federal financial aid paid to the school per class as I didn't attend. From what I understand when I called Sandy should have advised me to call FAFSA and find out what to do from them or the department of Ed. Not only does she not do that but she in fact advised against it saying that if I couldn't pay it they wouldn't give me any slack would send me to collections and I definitely wouldn't be able to continue their Arizona State and my gullible State. I didn't look into that. And by the way I did inform her first thing when I called but I I had had a stroke and was not really on point with exactly what had happened and would appreciate any details she could give me so she was aware of my state. And what's she advised me to do was to join a program at Arizona State has called compassion at withdrawal and the way she framed it to me was that Arizona State would forgive my debt to the department of education. That's not at all. What happened? Compassionate withdrawal means Arizona State is going to keep the money. The department of education gave them for the classes. Okay, you didn't attend no matter what and when they keep that money you're going to owe them and not the department of education who would have let you continue your education and make payments on it instead. Arizona State will make it due and payable immediately and ride your ass morning, noon and night about it. While still not even letting you go back to school, it was the least compassionate thing I've ever been through and the sole reason that even now that I've paid it off out of my own pocket, not out of any compassion that our Arizona State had for anyone and not after none of their staff that I could have escalated this situation to would call me back. Now I've containing my education elsewhere and graduated, so that's my experience with the Arizona State. If you're thinking about enrolling here, stay to the classes and hope that everything goes 100% right because in a heartbeat Arizona State will sell you out for the sake of their own pocketbook and that's a fact. And by the way moderators if you're going to moderate, just know that I'm posting this absolutely everywhere that I can.
Differential Equations, why can't they let you take this in a C session.
Anyone taking this shit at ASU online summer course? Just had to drop this class a second time because I was on the road the first two days of class (started on the 1st) for end of the school year trip with my kid only for it to fold into 4th a July weekend. 6 week long fucking class with shit due every fucking day because it's so compressed. The first time I dropped it because one of the tests was during a week long ski trip and they only give you 1 specific day to take the Honorlock proctored test which is also so asinine with the required camera set up unlike any other calc, physics or engineering class I've had. All around just a pain in the ass setting me back over and over again.
I got accepted! .. what’s next?
So I recently transferred from SNHU to ASU with 27 credits & a 2.7 GPA. I also changed my major from BA in Psychology with a minor in Mental Health to BS in Forensic Psychology & im so excited to start! What classes would yall recommend? Any advice for starting or advice for anything!!! I’m so excited to start but I want to be prepared for it all! I’m moving to Texas around the same time I start so any advice or anything would be so helpful!
Is Driving For Uber Worth the Scholarship?
Hello. I am considering driving with Uber and Uber Eats in Texas after learning about the seemingly amazing scholarship (with Arizona State University online) you can access after 2,000 lifetime rides/deliveries and keeping other qualifications up also.
I’ve read everything I could find about it.
🌟Those who have driven with Uber/Uber Eats and received the scholarship or know someone who has:
Please give me your most honest, detailed answer (and feel free to DM me your answer if that makes you more comfortable):
Is it worth it?
I would deeply appreciate your help, as I’ve been through some really, really awful things, and I’m trying to thrive and not just survive (as I’m sure we all are).
Thank you in advance for any honest and correct help!!!!
I truly appreciate it!! 😊💕
Also, thank you very much to whoever posted about this scholarship recently, because that is how I heard about it! Thank you!! 😊💕

Which MacBook and specs should I get for a CS degree at ASU Online?
Hi everyone,
I'm starting the Computer Science program at ASU Online this fall and I'm trying to decide which MacBook to buy. I want something that will last all 4 years (and hopefully a little longer) without feeling slow.
A little about my situation:
- Computer Science major
- Interested in AI/ML in the future
- Budget is flexible, but I don't want to overspend if I won't benefit from it
- I don't play many games, so gaming performance isn't important
- Battery life, reliability, and portability matter a lot since I'll be using it every day
- I'd like to keep this laptop for at least 5 years
I'm mainly trying to decide between:
- MacBook Air 13"
- MacBook Air 15"
- MacBook Pro 14"
I'm also unsure about the specs:
- Is 16 GB RAM enough, or should I get 24 GB or 32 GB?
- Is the base SSD enough, or should I upgrade to 512 GB or 1 TB?
- Would the Air be enough for a CS degree, or is the Pro worth the extra money?
For anyone who has gone through ASU CS (or another CS program), what MacBook did you use? Were there any classes where you wished you had more RAM, storage, or a Pro instead of an Air?
Thanks! I'd really appreciate hearing what worked for you.
Can we see the overall class average on Canvas?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if there's any way to see the overall class average for a course on Canvas? I know we can see the average for individual assignments, but I'm just so curious about the overall class average. Is that data available to students anywhere?
Thanks!
How long are Mat117 edfinity exams
Yeah the title. I don’t mean like minutes/hours, I mean like how many questions. The syllabus doesn’t say so I’m expecting LONG exams like 20+ questions long.
If anyone knows please let me know!
Alternative to attending ASU for free without the Starbucks route as out of state resident?
Is there anything I can do to attend ASU for free or any other alternative companies that would pay?
FAFSA still hasnt processed and now I am on an enrollment hold?

HUAD easy classes
Hi everyone
I was looking for an easy HUAD class to take during Summer Session B. I’m looking for an easy A+ class with little effort because I work full time plus overtime. Right now, I’m enrolled in PUP 200: Cities in Cinema. Do you think I should take it, or do you have any other recommendations for easy HUAD classes? If you can, also mention the instructor’s name, I will appreciate it
Math 114?
I was considering taking math 114 this coming fall. Math 117 seems to be too difficult for me to understand even after using khan academy to help teach myself. Is there anything outside of khan academy that I can use for math 114? I don’t see a college mathematics to practice in the app with. I’m pretty math illiterate and it’s been around 15 years since I graduated high school and I really need this math class for my Mizzou application.
Math 117 - College Algebra
I need to take a college algebra course for my nursing degree requirement and am in no way a math person. I want a fully online, not proctored course that I can pass with a C and move on with my life. Has anyone taken this course? Thoughts?
