do i trim this?

i’m making the matchy matchy sewing club ruffle brunch set top right now and i’m confused on if i should trim off this excess. there seems to be a lot and i’m afraid it will mess up the rest of my shirt going forward. i pinned just like the instructions said, matching the notches, but now there’s so much excess fabric from the side panel that i couldn’t match up where the shoulder seam will be. for reference i completed one side already (last picture) and there was a little bit extra left on that one. how should i proceed?

i cut both pieces for the side panel and front panel out at the same time with the fabric folded, so idk why it would be different on this one

help with figuring this out

so i love these free people sun dazed pants but not for $70. i already have a wide leg pant pattern i can use, but it hurts my brain as a newer sewer to figure out the waistband. to me it looks like two straps and elastic? but how would i even sew that? i feel like it’s simple but i can’t think through it. or if you know a pattern like this give me recs!

help me find a town to live in

i graduate next spring and i'm starting to research places to live. i currently live in florida and can't wait to get out of here. i'm majoring in public relations so will be looking for PR/comms jobs after graduating. currently looking at richmond VA, but i'd like some other places to look at too

i love thrifting, hiking, historic charm in towns, coffee shops, farmers markets/ weekend markets, and green spaces. i'd like to live alone with rent around 1200-1350. i'm terrified of driving in snow (having grown up in FL), but i want to experience the change in seasons.

what suggestions do you have for me?
