Done with stencils I made
Found some photos I didn’t know I had of these befores! Zachtarn is cheap and easy to do to so many things, packs, pouches, rifles. It stays on well too. Just spray paint into a container and dip in 3’s, using corners for most work.
I generally do Zachtarn with Qtips in 3’s with the corners for detail and the whole thing as a brush to apply more heavily. I dip the Qtips into a cut down container I spray into. I have done backpacks completely and partially as well as pouches and rifles. i have used Rustoleum a lot and krylon when it was more available. Rapco field drab brown is a nice base too. Apply additional colors in large and medium swatches first, it’s easy to just do dots all over your first times. There is no wrong way to do it, I have tried any way and order you can imagine adding and subtracting with the base or any colors. It’s cheap, durable and not difficult.
Some are qtips and some are via homemade stencils. Look how much the Rustoleum deep forest green varies from very dark to medium.
Fun comparison of mags I did over a 20 year period with homemade stencils or Qtips. Notice how different the Rustoleum deep forest green can come off on different mags, from very dark to medium. my Qtip painting style varies a lot too.
