After some genuinely traumatic experiences with doctors not believing my PMDD symptoms, I'm only willing to go through referrals (yes I have looked at the iapmd list but I really want to know people's personal experiences). I just moved to NYC and am overwhelmed by the number of doc options in the area. Does anyone have recommendations for truly informed and understanding doctors they've been to (PCP or obgyn)? Please dm me.

for context, I am on continuous pill BC to treat it, it works "okay" but I still experience cyclical symptoms (this is something I have been told "is not possible" by qualified doctors so looking for someone who won't gaslight me about that!), my main symptom is severe fatigue, and I am looking to go through an egg freezing cycle as well so I really want someone who is extremely gentle and sensitive who can help me manage the process of going off my birth control + dealing with the side effects of hormones during egg freezing.

I am a moderately high needs patient - I've had traumatizing experiences in the past with doctors not believing me about my severe PMDD symptoms, have a bunch of minor chronic conditions that need to be managed, and have also had a hellish time trying to find an actually good therapist.

I have tried at least looking at online reviews but had terrible experiences even with 5 star rated doctors. And similarly, I have gone through friend referrals but because we all have different needs, the people they suggested didn't always work well for me.

I just moved to NYC and am totally overwhelmed by the number of options in terms of doctors and therapists. No clue how to find one that is good.

I actually managed to find an amazing OBGYN who was so nice and patient with me. Then when I tried to just go in to book a follow up with her, turns out she's just poof gone from the practice, no notice to me and the clinic has no idea where she went so I can't even follow her to the next place.

So I'm not necessarily looking for specific recs (though honestly if you have any - please DM me or comment!!!) but does anyone have more general advice on how to sift through the enormous mass of providers in NYC?
