Transformation using advice from this group!

You all are phenomenal! I asked for advice earlier today and received phenomenal advice, tips, etc. the major theme was put the bed by the dang window. (I had attempted this once and was so hesitant cause I couldn’t figure it out).

I wanted to show the transformation and share a huge thank you to this group! I’m gonna live in this for a moment, see how the energy feels, but open to continuous feedback.

First photo - old

Middle photo - during the transition, stress cause the vision was not visioning.

Last 2 - current state

Edit: y’all got me dying. This group got stuck just like me on how to layout better, bed by the window or couch by the window. It’s a tricky studio layout with an admittedly large couch cause I wanted people to sleep on it. We’ll live in it for a little bit, feel the energy, and change it if the vibe is off. Sometimes you don’t know till you change it and this forced me to get things off the ground.

How do I redo this layout in a studio?

I just sold my Murphy bed and picked up a desk for at home work. These two changes have me stuck on how to orient the layout of the home. I like Japandi (will eventually stain/paint some of the furniture to fit this) and I don’t know how to adjust the layout anymore (I’ve always struggled with the bay windows).

Any advice is appreciated and forgive the wall (I didn’t realize I had two different paints till it was too late, that’s a future project).

Edit: more pics added in the comments attempting the new layouts. The bed in the window is pretty but the radiator creates friction with laying out the rest of the room. What are the thoughts? Do we go back to OG layout and make minor adjustments? The radiator has always been a bit of a pain and blocks the visual walkway from the kitchen and hallways.

(Obv none of this is pretty with the layout rn but it gets the visual started).

I always struggle adding real plants cause my cat just goes for them with zero care.

Edit 2: thank you all! The advice was welcomed, received, and implemented. And thank you for my middle of the transformation crisis. The overwhelming advice was move the bed to the window. So here we are. I’ll live in it for a bit, feel the vibes and adjust from there! Check out the change below!

Edit 3: mh post got deleted. I added a new comment on this thread with the photo of the transformation :/ will try and find an easier way to link it tomorrow

How do I re-orient the furniture in my studio?

I’ve slowly acquired furniture since I’ve moved here with the goal to have a Japandi feel.

Two recent changes have my re-evaluating my studio layout and I’m stuck.

  1. Sold my Murphy bed and now have a simple wood one (will be stained to meet the Japandi vibes). This is giving me more room to play with layouts.

  2. I need a desk at home (I can’t deal with how cold offices are anymore. I’m buying new clothes just to deal with it and losing my mind trying to guess a temp).

Does anyone have a good eye for layouts and could give me a few pointers to tweak. I keep getting stuck working around the radiator and then having bay windows (first time having them).

Will send pics by DM’s as I don’t want it broadly out there.

Get it free: Birthday Edition

There was a prior thread on what free treats exist around the city for your birthday. I got a surprise gift (Sézane) this year and was so impressed I wanted to start a thread to drop into as I discover who has free items (material or service, not food) during my birthday month, especially the ones I’ve never heard of.

So sharing with zero assumptions on if people have heard of it.

Cosmetics:

- Sephora - variety of sampler products
- Ulta - discount code (maybe freebie w it)
- Kiehl’s - free product (to be confirmed)
- Jo Malone - Free travel cologne with purchase (mailing list required)

Clothing/Home:

- Sézane (Parisian clothing store on Fillmore st. I received a bandana/scarf that is cotton and super cute).
- Anthropologie - discount code
- Madewell - discount code
- Dyptique - free mini candle with a purchase

Services:

- Barry’s - Complimentary class (for members)
- Equinox - discount on spa service (for members)

Edit: adding and organizing ✌️

Birthday activity ideas

I have a birthday coming up this summer and not really sure what to do.

I’m looking to celebrate with just my partner and have an experience together to make memories. I’m not really looking for a party, center of attention, or being around lots of people type energy.

What are those experiences that feel like you’re pouring into yourself and just feel like you’re intentionally creating a memory. I had a few ideas like Napa valley wineries (I’ve never been and really enjoy nature and the calm). Hot air balloon maybe another year due to it being expensive.

To give you a vibe, I enjoy calm environments to rest and restore and some of my fond memories include a rooftop bar in Japan with my sister after a very calm trip exploring something so new or being on the beach and enjoying the sunset.

Separate personal things I may do is get my hair and nails done as part of a spa day but not what I’m thinking of for the experience.

Do you have an injury lawyer you trust?

I was in an accident (not at fault). Given I was in a rental vehicle, I can’t work through the insurance lawyers for medical stuff so I’m looking at an injury lawyer to help recoup some cost for the med bills. I’m concerned about dealing with sleezy people and would want to support a woman. Would appreciate any recs.

ISO

Looking for help finding a good quality, oversized fit trench coat that is around 134cm long (I’m looking for full length). I’ve attached examples but curious if anyone has had luck finding good options for long trench coats.
