Western Addition bitches beware

For weeks (maybe months) a man has been sitting in this car taking care of himself, in full view of pedestrians. On the corner of Divis + Grove, looking right at the CorePower NoPa most mornings. I’ve called police non-emergency but they don’t seem to care. This is apparently his routine, and again, even a glance in the car will give you a view you probably don’t want.

Milestone birthday trip ideas

Turning a big milestone birthday this year and I want to take a trip. I love a city, museums, nature, and a beach but I can’t do an entire trip on a beach bc I get bored. Any ideas? I’m moderately well traveled and prefer less humid climates. Hoping to crowdsources some faves here bc yall have taste and I’m overwhelmed and unfocused.

Overcame my crippling fear of heights to cross the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time!

I've lived in the Bay my entire life and I've never been able to cross the bridge because I have a crippling fear of heights. (Like I've had panic attacks the upper bowls of arenas before and once even had to butt scoot down the stairs even though I logically understand that's completely irrational.) Growing up with the bridge collapse from Loma Prieta and then the Minnesota bridge collapse when I was a young adult made walking across bridges particularly bad. I can suck it up and drive but walking across and feeling the vibrations is terrifying.

Anyway, this summer I started a goal of trying to find the perfect background shot for a nail polish called Sunset Over the Bay partly because it meant taking more walks and hikes around the Bay looking for the perfect backdrop (basically giving myself a dumb motivator to exercise and explore more), which led to me hiking a lot more (and just hiking x number of miles a week my new motivator), which led to me eventually confronting my nemeses: the bridge and the steep hills right around it.

I'm early middle aged so I realized if I'm not going to do it now, I probably never am going to do these hikes/walks so it helped motivate me.

If anyone is comforting their fears, I definitely recommend focusing on the reasons you want to confront your fear and trying to make it as low pressure as possible. Situations where you can leave as quickly as possible are ideal. Focusing on other things help (I got some nice wildlife distractions to focus on their first time across), or adjust doing it quickly so you can gain some experience of it going okay (I raced back across).

Pics of the bridge going across, the view of Slacker Hill in the Marin headlands, and Marshall Beach from a month and a half ago (the first time I've ever been able to go down something that steep).

New home anxiety - help

Hi BWT! I need your help!

My husband and I are looking to start a family soon and just started browsing for homes to buy. I am not from here and have only ever lived in SF. We've always thought I wanted to live in SF long term but the recent housing market has me very intimidated after hearing about the bidding wars and fake low listing prices.

We also started looking around further south like San Mateo, Redwood City (generally looking for places with good schools) and honestly feel very overwhelmed, and also like something feels missing when I think of the city's walkability and energy. I'm worried I'm prioritizing the wrong things based on the phase of life I do know instead of the one that's to come.

-:If you have purchased a home in the recent past I'd love to hear your experience and how you went about it. How did you choose your neighborhood? Is the bidding war really what it's reported to be?

- If you have a young family what have you found is the most important to you? What changed from pre-baby/toddler life that would influence where you live?

Where we going for a quick staycation?

Hey bitches!!

I’m about to have a really massive event at work that will either go really well or really poorly and i won’t have a job. I decided either way i wanna do a little staycation afterwards to decompress. I’m from the bay area but I generally never done a relaxed vacation around here. I’m looking for places that aren’t too far (two-three hourish drive), and on the cheaper side because my plan is to literally just lay around and maybe go in the pool or hot tub lol.

Pregnancy craving: NEED Rosemary salt bagel
