The NHL and its commissioner, Gary Bettman, know they have "work to do in preparation" for a "plot point" in Heated Rivalry's second season:

"[NHL senior executive vice president, Kim] Davis said that while the NHL has been actively involved with the LGBTQ+ community — for example, hosting the NHL Unites Pride Cup — the league must do a “better job” of talking about its actions.

Heated Rivalry has attracted new audiences to the sport, and the NHL has “such an opportunity to lean into those ‘fans in waiting’ that are now so interested in hockey,” Davis said.

“We need to create stickiness with those new fans,” she said. Davis said the league needs to demonstrate through actions, not just words, that it is creating a welcoming environment for the LGBTQ+ community.

Asked about Heated Rivalry season 2, which is expected to premiere in April 2027 on Crave and HBO Max, she said it will involve a league commissioner character.

However, Gary Bettman, the NHL’s actual commissioner, has “shared with the co-producers that what they say about him [in the show] is not at all the way he would react” to a plot point, said Davis.

“We have work to do in preparation for that,” she said."

Asking for a friend?! I know it's been discussed and all throughout the last promo runs of the last season of Outlander; David Berry and the Showrunners have been asked and been tight lipped; but as a long time fan of the show, I would be so excited to see more and follow Lord John Grey's adventures; journeys and stories and maybe even romance!

Whether it would be multiple season runs or a Limited Series of all the Novels and Novellas by the brilliant Diana Gabaldon that would 8 to 12 episodes, I would be waiting seated and excited to watch!

On screen, that depth is anchored by Williams and Storrie, actors plucked from restaurant-server obscurity. Their chemistry and casting were nothing short of kismet. Tierney explains they saw loads of actors, some of whom, after hearing descriptions that called for “fairly explicit nudity” and “intimate content” no longer wanted to read for the part. However, when the pair did their chemistry read on Zoom, that’s when Tierney and co. knew they finally had something special. “Boy, when [their chemistry] is there, you can feel it,” he says. “I was acutely aware that this doesn’t just happen. It was shockingly good what they had going on.”

Recalling the first day of filming, which included Episode 1’s Las Vegas sex scene and Episode 6’s heart-wrenching gay identity confession from Shane to Ilya, Tierney says that after seeing the pair excel in the emotional wringer, his own “nerves were out the window, I knew I could throw anything at those guys.”
