You ever acknowledge your own faults to the point of making fun of yourself a ton, but then get really defensive when someone else/other people point them out?

Whether it be our own generation/how we are or just habits in general regardless.

I think we can be aware of our own shortcomings but then not like when people that aren’t us (or people older than us) point them out.

What would you say is a piece of media (music, movies, tv, etc) that represents our generation well?

Boomers had rock n roll, hippies turned yuppies, seemingly endless cultural and political dominance, Gen X had The Breakfast Club/John Hughes and other 80s teen films, the grunge and hip hop music they pioneered, the indie film movement of the 90s, Millennials had Mean Girls, Superbad, stomp clap hey music, hipsters.

I would say for better and worse, social media and internet videos dominate pretty much everything we do, and it even affects our movies and music. The movies made for us, by us (Obsessions, backrooms) were made by YouTubers. Spider Man: Brand new day captures how many of us feel totally isolated while completely connected. One of my favorite films, the hate u give, showcases how we use social media to raise awareness of injustices.

Our biggest stars like Billie Eilish put out her first single on SoundCloud when she was 13. Putting your stuff out online without a second thought is a prerequisite to feeling like you’re doing something, even when you’re not.

When did you find out about Leon Thomas?

I’m a child of the late 00s/early 10s (I know, a youngin lol) so I watched a lot of backyardigans and later on, Victorious.

I later found out about his solo career around 2022-ish through outlets like r&b money and the Terrell show

It’s his birthday today so I felt like making this post

Being in your 20s is wild

You have more freedom to do whatever you want, and go where you want to go, but you also feel kinda stuck.

Those older than you see you as lazy, dumb and untrustworthy. Those younger than you see you as cringe 😬 and not to be taken seriously. But also you can relate to most age groups despite those negatives. From childhood to adulthood.

Best Janet Jackson album in your opinion

Control cemented her as a force to be reckoned with even beyond the already famous Jackson family name, Rhythm Nation put her as a socially conscious figure alongside pop icon, self titled was a sexually liberating singular work, and velvet rope was a very vulnerable album tackling domestic violence, aids, etc

All for you is right up there for me too but I can’t find as many descriptive words to describe what the album means
