Is It Okay to Say on My Application That I Take BusPar, Or should I not Include That?

Hello All.

I am starting the process of going through the application process. I know there are questions about mental health, and I recently started taking Buspar for generalized anxiety. I have not been diagnosed with anxiety, I just asked my doctor for something to help with the generalized stress of everyday.

My question is: should I put on the application that I have "anxiety?" I have also seen other posts where people say that some medicines for anxiety that they take show up in their tests as like, a drug? I DO NOT want that. I'm not sure of what BusPar has in it or if it would show up on a drug test as a drug, but this is my dream to go teach in Korea, and I don't want anything jeopardizing that. I also don't want to lie and then end up jeopardizing myself, but I'm also thinking of just stop taking it for the last two months before I leave, bring it with me to Korea, what until after the drug tests, and then just start it again. Or, if anything, I'm sure they have a similar pill in Korea.

Any advice?

If I Didn't Pay My Insurance, Could I be Barred from Entering the Country Again?

Hey guys.

I plan on moving to Korea in 2027. I will work as an English teacher. I'm worried because, back when I studied abroad in 2023, I didn't pay for my last insurance bill that I received because I was about to leave and just didn't have the finance to afford it. I thought about this the other day, and I wonder if this would deter me from being about to apply for visa and enter the country again? I think I'm being pretty dramatic, but I want to ask just in case. I also have no problem paying it, but I don't remember what the insurance was called or even how I would find it.

My chances of getting into South Korea' EPIK program?

I've tried posting this everywhere! Hopefully this is the right subreddit.

I'm reading everywhere about just how competitive EPIK is, and I feel like I have a good chance, but I'm still worried about my overall chances of getting in. Below are my credentials.

- minimal teaching experience.

- Bachelors in Public Relations and Advertising w/ a minor in General Business

- Studied aboard in South Korea in 2023.

- Was an intern & Cultural Ambassador during my time there. Taught Korean university students English, as well as American culture and lifestyle differences.

- Advertised studying abroad to my Korean university for my home university.

- Currently working on my Master's in International Education with a concentration in Higher Education Administration.

Sorry, this post has bee

If I Were to Apply to the ETA Fulbright Program 27-28, When Would I Hear Back?

Hello!

I'm interested applying for the ETA Fullbright program, but I'm inquiring about the timeline in which I'd hear back. The application is due October 6th of this year, so when would I hear that I made the next step? I'm personally going between doing Fullbright or just going through said country's government program instead. Thanks!

How Long/Often Does TEFL.org Do Discounts?

(sorry if this is the wrong flair).

I see they have a very good discount going right now, but I don't necessarily need to take my TEFL until next year. I was just wondering how often these discounts happen and how long they are offered?

The anxiety of wanting to teach in Korea is not the preparation to go, but the fear of returning home ...

Hi! (not really sure if any flair fits with this, so sorry if this is categorized wrong)

For a while now, I've wanted to teach in Korea. I studied their in 2023, it was the best experience ever, so much so that I really haven't had a surreal experience like that again. I am now working on my master degree in Comparative and Global Education with a concentration in Higher Education Administration... that's how much I loved it lol.

But here is where my fear comes into play.

Most people have worries about the prep time for Korea, or the arrival process, but I literally have no anxiety when it comes to that. What I'm worried about is the type of world I'd have to return to for when I get home. For one, when I studied aboard, I was in undergrad and could come back to free housing as an RA. If I were to come back after 6 months/1 year abroad, there's no hope that I'll have a place to stay besides my mother house which I'd rather not. On top of that, I'll be 26 or older by the time I return home, meaning that I will be off the insurance which worries me to come home without. I also have a car. Currently, my dad is paying my car, but he's very unpredictable, and I wouldn't be surprised if he sold it while I was away. My overall goal would be to have a job lined up by the time I get back, but I realize how difficult that can be while on the way opposite side of the world (I am from the US, btw).

Teaching in Korea is something I want to do as a break from my regular routine life, but I don't want to be there forever. A year max. As an experience to have, tell my kids about, put on my resume, and then resume my career goals in working in global education as a study abroad advisor or international students advisor.

I'm so in between going for it because I'm so worried about how brutal life will be when I get back. I've read stories where people stay way longer than expected cause they get complacent and don't know how to navigate the way out of Korea. I do not want this. While I love Korea, I'm excited to explore and teach and have a new perspective on life, but I know it's not what I want to do forever.

I want to read people's success stories upon returning, mostly that it all worked out in the end and I'm stressing over nothing. I know that I'll regret not teaching abroad if I don't do it, but I'm scared that it's just not the right choice for me.

WIBTA For Telling My Friend/Roommate to NOT be on FaceTime With her Long-Distance Boyfriend While we're hanging out?

I (23F) have a roommate/friend (24F) who has a long distance relationship with her boyfriend that lives in Arizona since he's in the military (we live in Texas). Anytime we're together, they are on the phone. Their relationship was pretty new, so I didn't say anything in the beginning, but since it's been about seven months now and she moves to Arizona to live with him in March, I fear it's time I say something.

The problem is her being on the phone with him when we're trying to spend quality time together. For example, she'll ask that we watch a show or movie in our apartment, and then be on facetime having side conversations with her BF, or worse, explaining to him every single thing I say or do so he can be in the know. She doesn't seem to have this problem outside of the apartment, but if we plan to do something in the apartment together, it's like she can't get off the phone. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt for the June month while's he's abroad in The Philippines, but should I say something for when he returns?
