Which class should I main for PvM if I want something strong but relatively low mental load?

I’m trying to settle on a class to main in Dofus, and I’m having a hard time choosing because I tend to overthink/optimize games a lot.

My main goal is PvM. I’d like to eventually experience as much of the game as possible, including quests, achievements, dungeons, and potentially endgame content.

The biggest thing for me, though, is mental load.

I don’t mind learning a class or having some depth, but I don’t want every single turn to feel like I need to solve a super complex puzzle, plan ten interactions ahead, keep track of a ton of states/mechanics, or constantly reposition everything perfectly just to play the class properly.

Basically, I’m looking for something that:

• Is strong and useful throughout PvM, including endgame.

• Can handle a good amount of content solo.

• Is desirable/useful in groups.

• Works well for dungeon achievement duos.

• Has some depth so it doesn’t become boring.

• Doesn’t require huge mental effort every turn.

• Doesn’t punish me heavily for playing somewhat casually instead of executing the “optimal” turn every time.

I also tend to be very optimization-oriented in games. If a class has an enormous skill ceiling and I know I’m playing it inefficiently, I have a tendency to start- obsessing over playing it “correctly,” which can suck some of the fun out of the game. So I’d rather have a class where playing well feels satisfying without needing to turn every fight into 4D chess.

If you had to pick one class to main long-term with all of that in mind, what would you recommend?

Am I actually going to enjoy, or am I just attracted to the idea of it?

I'm debating buying TWW3 + and its DLC, but I genuinely can't tell if it's actually for me or if i'm just attracted to the idea of it.

What interests me the most is:

  • managing cities/provinces
  • expanding my territory
  • diplomacy and faction politics
  • the overall "grand strategy" feeling
  • building an empire over time
  • the fantasy aspect and the races/lore (big fan)

But at the same time, I'm worried about two things:

  1. The actual warfare/gameplay becoming tedious after a while I don't know if I'll enjoy manually controlling battles long term or if it'll eventually feel repetitive/stressful.
  2. The campaign becoming boring in the mid/late game A lot of strategy games lose me once the challenge disappears and it turns into:
  • pressing end turn
  • upgrading random buildings just because you can
  • autoresolving everything
  • managing 20 settlements that no longer feel meaningful

Basically: I love strategy/systems/progression, but I tend to bounce off games when they become maintenance simulators.

For people who play TWW3 a lot:

  • does this sound like a game I'd enjoy?
  • do you actually finish campaigns?
  • how engaging is the mid/late game?
  • and how important is enjoying the battles themselves?
