I’m planning to move to Chennai for about 5 months for study purposes (exam preparation) and stay in a hostel.

I wanted to get a realistic idea of the total expenses for that period.

1. What’s the average hostel cost (with or without food)?

2. How much should I budget monthly for food, transport, and other basic expenses?

3. Overall, how much savings should I have before moving?

I’m preparing for competitive exam and have prior experience in tuition teaching. I’m planning to start a small home tuition for 6th–10th students around DRO Colony.

Even though it’s a small setup, I want to build it properly with strong basics and good teaching quality.
