It is incomprehensibly large. It is everything. And yet, it doesn’t connect. All the pieces of the puzzle fit together, but they make a meaningless photo with too much nuance and detail to ever truly understand that will never feel like a solution no matter how many times you take it apart and put it back together again or tear it apart or gut it or bite it or hurt it no matter what you do it will never fit in a meaningful way because the infinite amounts to a total of nothing due to the fact that infinite information will only repeat eternally until it all cancels out to zero

Genuinely. It feels like if you deep-cleaned it and made it boring. The EQ feels flat, the bass isn’t there, and it feels like a lot of the distortion/whatever FX they used on stuff like the bari sax in Thermodynamic Lawyer was just toned down for no reason.

I hate it.

Granted, I am a sound engineer, so I may be the only person who actually cares about this, but still. I would like to personally slap whatever engineer cooked this utter POISON up.

Aside from Chemical Overreaction, that was definitely improved in the remaster, I will admit.

What if the Holiday Manor ends up turning into a House of Leaves-style maze?

We’ve already seen the concept in Chapter Four. Darkness shifts places, changes them, and sometimes those changes don’t exactly fit in the laws of physics. (ex:that one room in the second sanctuary, the fully dark maze bits, etc.) Plus, we already saw a maze in the Tom & Jerry soul bit.

You can even draw a few parallels between the Navidson family and the Holiday Regime. They’re both families torn apart by mysterious events revolving around impossible, dark places, with a parent who relentlessly studies said places due to an ambiguous event in their past. (Ie: Delial for Navy, Dess for Carol.)

Plus, both sides are stories filled with characters that have Hideo Kojima ass names. (Seriously, Mark, fucking Holloway? At least be subtle about it, man.)

Anyways, I kinda just thought it was a cool idea.

I missed so much the first time I read it, every metaphor and important footnote all missed in the name of saving time and personal grievance with the thought of devoting hours of my time to decoding this mindfuck of a book— or, no, “book” as a word doesn’t really fit this, but rather, experience— really, it just seemed far too intimidating first time around.

Revisiting it, I’ve realized what I missed.

How many lies will this book tell me before I break with it?

I’m not going insane I swear

Recurrence is a funny concept to me. By no means am I a physicist, I only understand the basics of the theorem, but I still find it to be incredibly interesting. As a matter of fact, I’m currently writing an immortal character who is a victim of eternal cosmic recurrence, which is what leads me to this.

I know it’s bullshit. From what I can tell, it doesn’t work on a cosmic scale because the Laws of Conservation tend to not hold up sometimes, especially when you introduce quantum mechanics, and too much or not enough energy/matter=can’t go back to original form.

However, I wonder if it would work given an infinite amount of time.

Would the universe just Infinity Monkey Typewriter itself back to where it is right now if you give it enough time?
