Got a 5 day work trip to Meghalaya, is 4-5 days anywhere near enough to explore Cherrapunji/Shillong, or should I not even bother trying?

Got sent on a short 4 to 5 day work trip up to Shillong/Meghalaya next week.

Since it's a tight window, I'll be flying in, but I'm torn on how to pace it. I desperately want to see the Living Root Bridges and a couple of waterfalls, but everyone tells me Meghalaya travel is notoriously slow due to winding mountain roads and unpredictable weather.

For anyone who’s done a quick 4 day run to the Northeast...

  1. Is renting a self drive car out of Guwahati better than relying on local taxis for short timeframes?
  2. What are 2 non negotiable spots I should prioritize if I only have 48 hours of actual free time outside work?

I normally drive by myself because I love driving but I am not sure about the best option here. So, would love the help and recommendations...Thank you so much in advance!!

Made it home safe. After hours on dark state highways, good cabin ergonomics & lighting make all the difference.

Finally home after a long interstate work run. Driving late at night across unlit stretches and dealing with oncoming high beams always tests your patience.

Nights like this make me appreciate clean dashboard ergonomics, good headlight throw, and subtle ambient lighting that doesn't cause cabin glare.

What is one interior feature/feature mod in your car that made night time highway driving infinitely less tiring for you?

For those who do 500+ km interstate road runs every few weeks for work: What is your #1 rule to avoid highway fatigue? [OC]

Due to work, I end up doing frequent 300-600 km intercity runs across state highways and expressways. While I love driving, long stretches on monotonous highways combined with unpredictable state road traffic can get mentally draining after hour 4 or 5.

I’ve built a basic routine (stopping every 2 hours, black coffee, heavy podcasts over music), but I’m curious about what seasoned highway drivers do.

What is your non-negotiable habit, hydration strategy, or driving posture tweak that keeps you sharp on long solo runs?

Is there a wireless Android Auto / Apple CarPlay dongle that doesn't turn into a heating brick after 45 minutes of navigation?

My car only came with wired Android Auto. I bought a cheap wireless adapter off Amazon, but whenever I run Google Maps + Spotify together, the dongle gets scorching hot and disconnects midway through highway drives. Are there any reliable, thermal-efficient wireless adapter brands that survive long drives without latency or random dropping?

What is the absolute strangest roadside attraction or tiny town you’ve stumbled across purely by accident?

For me, it was driving about an hour south of Bhopal on NH-46 and taking a random side road into the woods...Ended up finding Bhimbetka caves.
