Does the Phalanx Piercer use arrows or bolts?

The reason I'm asking is because in the description for it, it says "the Phalanx Piercer fires heavy, iron-shod bolts"

I would assume arrows since it's a bow but I just wanted to make sure so I'm asking y'all

He's an old man who doesn't listen to others but himself or his deity, he'll only help if it helps him reach his goal or further his deity

After I got my monk builds done after all the advice I got from such kind people, I made a sniper gunslinger, basically as much damage as possible in a single damage with one hit. One Shot, One Kill giving me a 1d6 for my first attack, then Slinger's Precision for a 1d4, and finally rogue dedication to get sneak attack which I can get at level 4, for an extra 1d6 as a cherry on top

One is a Kholo, I made him into a rabid human dog so he is basically always on all fours and his clothes are dirty and torn, the hand crossbow is for when he doesn't wanna chase.

Then the second is a human who has only been a monk for a while but decided to be a bit different from a normal monk and use wrist launchers intandem with his fist to be even better

I was curious when I saw it and was wondering if it worked for something like knuckle dusters or is it only fist? Or could this be a DM question and see what they say?
