When I was in grade school I saw an anime most probably on Cartoon Network.The main theme was spaceships.I don't remember how the protagonist looks but there was a tanned girl and she sometimes checked a timer which was a green/cyan prism floating above her palm. The final battle between the protagonist and the Antagonist was a sword battle and the fight was just one sword dash and slash . The protag won and I think the sword technique is hereditary. And in the 2nd to the last battle the enemy spaceship used some kind of tentacles.

That's all I remember.
