Encore Beach Club Questions - VIP/Tables, Marijuana, Etc...

Hey y'all,

First time going to the EBC (day time) and I've got questions. I've looked extensively at prior posts on this sub and didn't find answers I needed...

So first, we got a daybed (yay!). How does entry work for us?? One person in our group is also coming at a separate time - how will security know she is with our group?

I am also curious about security for people with daybeds. I am not sure if we are considered "VIP" and if that even changes anything. Everything I've read, it seems security is pretty damn strict at EBC. Which goes on to the next question...

Are people really not smoking weed at the EBC? I am originally from Miami (for reference Florida is a medical state, not recreational). The clubs there say weed "isn't allowed" but realistically none of the clubs care and literally every club you go to people are openly smoking joints. I'm just curious if it's a similar scenario at EBC (where, as long as you are able to sneak it in, you can smoke it).

I want to clarify here that I am not trying to cause trouble, we are all in our 30s/40s. I am just not as big of a drinker as I am a smoker. Unfortunately edibles tend to hit me too hard so I don't want to take one before entering.

Anyway, would love any other relevant info from those who have been to EBC! If it matters, we are going on Friday (I've heard Saturdays are a little crazier).

PS - Off topic but if there is anything interesting happening Saturday during the day I would love to hear about it - Our flight leaves that day later in the afternoon so we have time to kill.

Why is the Mike Haggerty plaza space on 4th ave (between Rustic Candle and Goodwill) never used??

I've walked past it so many times and it's always locked up. I've lived here for about a decade and have seen it open maaaaybe once. I know it's "dedicated" to Mike Haggerty, but why isn't the space itself utilized for anything??

A press release I found says "The plaza, located in the heart of Fourth Avenue, serves as an outdoor stage for community centered activities and events hosted by FAMA [Fourth Avenue Merchants Association]. Owned by the City of Tucson and leased to FAMA, the space hosts annual events such as the Trick or Treat Costume Contest, biannual Street Fairs, 4th Ave Unplugged, Public Living Rooms (a new initiative in collaboration with community-building organizations worldwide), and other small community events throughout the year."

I have literally never seen any of this happening there. I feel bad saying this, given that it's a dedication to someone who had an impact on 4th ave, but it seems like a waste of space - or rather, wasted potential of space.

Any public library users with a Kobo Clara E-Reader (or other non-Amazon e-reader)? What's your experience been like checking out books?

Currently thinking about getting my first ever e-reader. Pretty much all the books I read come from the public library. I absolutely detest Jeff Bezos/Amazon so would like to avoid buying a kindle if possible. However, I'm curious how smooth (or not smooth) it's been for people with other e-readers to check out books from the pima county library.

Hi everyone,

I am feeling all over the place about packing for this trip and feel I have reached the point to where I've over thought it and my thoughts are no longer useful!! Guidance is greatly appreciated.

Overall, I am looking to pack in a way that's functional but still somewhat "stylish" (so I don't want to be in hiking clothes the entire time). I have already accepted that I will not be wearing cute, fun clothes for the festival. Staying warm is super important to me as I get cold very easily. If it makes a difference to this post I am in my mid-30s, typically dress cute but comfortable, have little experience in cold weather, and I don't wear make up (so no make up bag needed).

TRAVEL INFO: I am traveling in the beginning of August from the US to Amsterdam. We'll be in Amsterdam for just a handful of days and then we go off to Iceland.

In Iceland, we'll hang out around Reykjavik (and either the Golden Circle or South Coast, haven't decided) for two days before heading to the Iceland Eclipse festival on the Snafellsnes Peninsula. This is a camping festival though thankfully, we secured a turnkey camper (so I won't be in a straight up tent). We'll be out there for about a week before spending two more days decompressing around Reykjavik and then heading back home. While in Iceland, I would like to do some outdoorsy stuff, but I'm not sure what (given the festival, I don't think there will be any intensive, long hiking in our itinerary). The festival offers some shuttles to nearby attractions and while were either on the Golden Circle or South Coast, I'd like to enjoy the nature somehow.

PACKING: I will be traveling with my 26L Calpak bag and a Patagonia ultralight black hole tote bag (so technically not one bagging it though it's really not much baggage space and would like to minimize what goes in the Patagonia bag; I mostly bring this as it's super versatile. I used this combo successfully on a two week trip though Italy). I have a couple of compression cubes I will be using to help pack.

Thus far, I have bought the following:

Merino wool long sleeve base layer x1

Rain jacket (REI Rainer jacket; also windproof. Packs down.)

Rain pants (North Face Antora relaxed fit.)

Merino wool socks x2 (Darn Tough)

I know I need to buy either a fleece or puffer*, so recommendations appreciated. (*I have an interior puffer of a snowboarding jacket I use - you think that would be okay?)

I am considering buying:

Chelsea Boots that are waterproof (so I can wear both functionally and stylishly in Amsterdam and Iceland). I tried on a pair of Blundstones and they were some of the most difficult shoes ever to put on/take off - is this normal??

Lululemon daydrift pants (I hear these don't wrinkle and they look nice)

Uniqlo heat-tech leggings, maybe also their heat-tech top (how do these do with sweat/odor? I am not a sweaty person but am wondering how these would hold up after a couple of uses. Also curious how the leggings would fit on someone with a bigger butt, lol).

Other:

I will obviously bring underwear, a bra, toiletries, charging cables, electric adapters...

There are a few things I own that I either normally bring on trips and/or could potentially bring though I'm not sure they would work out for this trip - things like my hiking shoes (not waterproof, not boots), my new balance 574 sneakers (typically my go-to travel sneaker), linen pants and linen shirts...

While I'm there I might buy things like baby wipes (daily showers may not be possible at the festival).

-----------------------------------------------
What do you suggest I buy, bring, etc? Obviously what I've listed here is pretty minimal - I am still months away from the trip (though fretting because I recognize time moves fast and it'll be here before I know it!).
