Albuquerque, NM, work trip in a week – need advice

Hello everyone!

I'm going to be in Albuquerque, NM, for 3 days for a 2.5 day work event, with 2 travel days.

I'm getting back into minimalist packing now that I'm fully recovered from a fibroid surgery several years ago (no more back pain!) and flying for the first time for work since 2019, so I'm worried about being gate-checked unlike the past few years when I've only done train travel.

Here's my tentative packing list. Is this about right for where I'm going, or is it going to be a struggle to fit it all in a backpack? I'm planning to do a two-hour guided bike tour on my last afternoon in Albuquerque (I can't afford to go on non-day trip vacations with my salary, especially with US inflation being so bad, so I try to bundle at least one fun thing into every work trip), and I'm going to be packing everything in a 30L Nemo overnight backpack (the one with the duffel opening). There's a small grocery store about a 10-minute walk from my hotel where I can get more sunscreen.

I used to need to pack a lot more because I took a collapsible meditation bench with me, so I had to use a suitcase, but I think I may just be able to go without if I stack pillows on the hotel bed? I could use some advice on what to do with that because my meditation practice is sometimes the only thing holding me together.

Apparel & Footwear

  • 2 pairs linen pants (one worn on plane)
  • 2 linen blouses (one worn on plane)
  • 2 cotton work-appropriate dresses
  • Cotton shrug for over-air-conditioned building
  • Linen activewear shirt and 1 pair informal shorts (for bike thing)
  • Linen blazer (debating whether to wear this on the plane)
  • Sleeping shorts and a tank top
  • 8 pairs of underwear (yup)
  • Hiking shoes + 2 pairs socks
  • Ballet flats (for my presentation day)
  • Ergonomic work-appropriate sandals (wearing on plane)
  • Basil City Bike Handbag (8L, functions as a purse because the KlickFix panel and pannier hooks can be hidden when not using that function, could theoretically put some of my things in it on my travel days)

Gear

  • Supernote tablet + spare pen
  • Kobo
  • Hearing aid charger
  • 2 USB-C chargers with 2 wall plugs
  • Bluetooth keyboard for phone
  • Phone
  • ANC headphones
  • Hearing aid clamshell
  • Modl straps (never know when you need 'em)
  • Maybe my work laptop ... I'm pretty sure I can get by with taking notes on my eink tablet and using the external phone keyboard ... I just need to check with the organizers that the room has a presentation laptop in it

Wellness

  • Prayer beads + icon
  • Yoga therapy balls
  • Instant matcha and magnesium single-serving sticks
  • Vitamin C
  • B complex supplement
  • Empty water bottle
  • Gluten-free protein bars/snacks for flight day
  • Solid shampoo and conditioner bars
  • Electric toothbrush + travel case
  • Face moisturizer
  • Deodorant
  • Mini bottle of sunscreen
  • OTC allergy medication
  • Face masks for travel days + public bathrooms
  • Hand sanitizer (travel size) and sanitizing wipes

Help me find a unicorn shirt

I have a favorite top that I love in cotton (I have 4 of them!) pictured above, and I’m looking for something similar that will be quick dry and travel friendly, packing down smaller than the cotton.

What shirt do you love that is…

- tanktop

- sturdy, good quality

- built in bra with decent support (doesn’t have to be great for workouts, but at least good for every day)

I like ribbed shirts, racerbacks are nice, and a little loose/flowy at the bottom is nice, but not required.

I’ve seen there are tops like this at 32 degrees and Uniqlo, has anyone tried them and loved them? Are they supportive? Are there other brands you love?

First personal item only trip -- long weekend in Miami

Have one-bagged it for a couple years and want to try an underseat-only venture on an upcoming three-night, four-day trip to Miami. First-time visitor; likely will be walking a lot. Doing a concert and perhaps some nightlife but likely avoiding the beach. I welcome any suggestions from more seasoned underseat travelers!

I typically travel with a men's REI 40L ruckpack, which is honestly too large for my frame, but I'm on a low-buy journey this year and trying to avoid purchasing more specialized clothes and bags. Rather than investing in a new 26-30L, I decided to make use of a busted-looking but sturdy 21L Carhartt backpack that I use for fieldwork. And rather than buy a new outfit or two, I'm trying a rental service for the first time so that I could pack a specialized capsule in the same palette so that I only have to bring one pair of shoes.

Bags:

- 21L Carhartt Classic Backpack
- Packable Athleta crossbody for daily use

Wardrobe:

- Two lightweight cotton/rayon dresses (one for travel days)
- One set silk pajamas
- Romper for concert/club
- One bathing suit
- One slip skirt
- One tank
- Five pairs underwear
- Either linen button-up or cotton keffiyeh
- Some kind of hat (not pictured)

Shoes:

- Dr. Martens Voss Hydro Sandal

Toiletries:

- Three sets of contacts
- Meds for a week
- Limited makeup
- Moisturizer (Muji all-in-one gel)
- Sunscreen (Eucerin ultra light spf 50)
- Travel toothbrush and toothpaste
- Mini bar soap from Muji (love)
- Mini hairbrush
- Mini bar deodorant
- A few misc. meds (ibu, tums)

Personals:

- Phone
- Airpods
- Chargers
- Mini card case
- Sunglasses and regular glasses
- Lipbalm

Things I'm not packing that I usually would:

- An extra pair of shoes
- Socks and bras
- Water bottle
- Athletic clothes for exercise
- Mini shampoo and conditioner
- Mini bodywash

2 weeks in the balkans

Fit all of this in my backpack, but my neckpillow is what is TRULY carrying. It’s got all my tops, sleep t-shirt, and pajama pants. I haven’t actually packed the black sweater top pictured at the top of the second picture since it will be my knitting project while I’m traveling!! So it’s actually just some yarn in my bag right now haha. I’ve also got toiletries and makeup in my bag too + electronics which just consists of my digital camera, extra charger, and a portable)

I’m taking a Wizz air flight to Albania but the rest of my trip I will just be taking busses so I’ll be able to expand my backpack (currently I don’t have it expanded but doing so adds a LOT of space).

I’ll be traveling leaving tomorrow and traveling for two weeks through Albania, Montenegro, and Croatia. I run pretty hot due to my SSRIs and I feels like I’m perpetually overheating, but in this case it works to my advantage!! It’ll be in the high 70s-low 80s pretty much the whole time

Concerns/Would maybe like advice -

  1. I’m wondering if I should bring another light long-sleeved layer?
  2. I don’t necessarily think I need my pashmina with me on my trip however there are some mosques I want to visit in Albania and I may need to cover my head for these. Has anyone traveled there and do they have experience?

So excited for this trip!!!

Edit: Detailed image descriptions in comments :)

Update: Started my journey, dropped a tank and a pair of shoes and added a lightweight waffle knit to throw on, i unfortunately don’t have any midi skirts that would be good for the weather (im already living abroad so wardrobe is limited) but my linen pants will hopefully be all i need 🥳🥳 thanks for all the advice!!

FAQ: Backpack is from Parfois (i think they are EU only?) and the app is Indyx (if anyone wants they can use my referral code sophdoph5510)

Looking for trip reports from the Baltic states during summertime

Hey all! I’m planning a trip through Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia in late July/early August and although I’ve searched this sub, my search results haven’t brought up many posts specific to this region/season combination.

I’d love to see trip reports and capsule wardrobes from anyone who has traveled through the Baltics in summertime.
When Googling, the weather seems wildly inconsistent. Some sources say it can be sunny and in the upper 80s°F, while others say daytime highs are more like low 70s°F (21–23°C). I get chilled easily around daytime highs in the low 70s, especially if it's overcast, so that temp difference really changes how I pack. Originally I was planning mostly lightweight cottons and linens, but now I’m wondering if I should be thinking more in terms of merino layers and warmer outerwear.

I’ve also seen conflicting info about rain frequency, which will probably determine my footwear choices. Trying to decide whether I can get away with lighter sneakers/sandals or if I should prioritize water resistance.
I’ve posted in a few general travel subs already, but those discussions always end up focused on itineraries instead of packing 😅

Trip details:
10 days on the ground +2 travel days
2 days in Vilnius, Lithuania
2 days in Riga, Latvia
4–5 days exploring various cities in Estonia (north to south)
2 days in Jūrmala, Latvia
Current plan is 1–1.5 bag travel (carry-on roller + small backpack). (I could probably 1 bag it if i didn't HAVE to bring 3 pairs of shoes for my ridiculously problematic feet, also i want extra room to bring home souvenirs from this trip)

Would really appreciate any trip reports, packing lists, outfit formulas, footwear recommendations, or general advice from people who’ve done this region in summer.
Thanks so much y’all!

7 days in Paris

7 days in Paris mid-June for a work trip. Sadly, will be working in an office for 8-10 hours a day Monday-Friday and only have 1.5 "free days" before coming back to DC. Think this may be too much but not sure. Black and white Merino wool tee (unbound). Uniqlo buttondown. Red linen top (quince) and creme net top (Uniqlo). Black linen gap pants. Red linen shorts (made well), pleather pleated skirt (aritzia) and madewell jeans. Linen red dress (quince), Uniqlo creme dress. Black linen gap dress. Merino madewell sweater.

Trip Report: One week, spring, Los Angeles

Eight days, seven nights in Southern California last month. Wanted to challenge myself to pack a capsule wardrobe in spring colors rather than my usual black. Weather was variable, getting cool in the evenings and warm in the daytime. Trip was casual to see friends & family. Ended up hiking, shopping, walking, and visiting with people; unfortunately I got pretty sick halfway through and spent the last three days in bed.

Bag

40L men's REI Ruckpack (oversized for this trip but don't have a mid-sized bag) and a very small, packable cloth backpack for daily use.

Electronics

- Airpods
- Daily watch (luv u baby Casio)
- Exercise watch (only wear this for running as I dislike the bulk and am loyal to the Casio)
- Phone
- Misc. chargers

Clothes & Shoes

- One Lulu fast & free running hat
- One cotton handkerchief
- One pair Everlane denim shorts
- One pair Athletica running shorts
- One pair Lulu athletic shorts for sleeping/lounging
- Five prs socks, five prs underwear
- One sports bra, one wire bra
- One pair Everlane jeans*
- One long cotton shirt*
- Light Adidas windbreaker*
- Two cotton t-shirts
- One cotton tank
- One athletic top
- One nice tank/bodysuit

Shoes

- Hoka running shoes
- Adidas tennies for walking*

*Travel day outfit

Misc. Not Pictured VIPS

- TRAVEL SNACKS (stress-ate pretzel goldfish through turbulence)
- Earplugs (I carry both foam and loop earplugs)
- Silk eyemask
- Extra migraine meds
- Mini card case instead of my bulky wallet
- Gifted Noshinku hand sanitizer (I would probably never buy this insanely overpriced sanitizer for myself, but damn if its sleek design don't make me feel a little better and cleaner every time I use it)

What Worked Well

I've begun to dial one bagging in well and used every piece of clothing except the running shorts, only because I did not follow my training plan after I got sick. I do love that I got to wear something other than my usual black capsule wardrobe. I know many are anti-denim for travel, but I still find the comfort and structure worth it. I just avoid their bulk by wearing the jeans on travel days.

What I Would Have Done Differently

Not much! I would still like to one day purchase a smaller bag (~26-30L) for mid-length trips like this, but until then the bulky 40L works fine. I could likely have cut the longsleeve cotton tee, but I thought I might want that extra layer at some point. Lastly, I wish I had fully masked on the flight over -- I never figured out what virus I contracted, but finding medical care outside your home state suuuuuucks.

Looking for alternative to TomBihn packing cube shoulder bag

This is exactly perfect for how I travel (get to a place, unpack, use the packing cubes as handy day bags) but I generally prefer much smaller packing cubes, like small size is fine. (Don’t get me started on why packing cubes almost always come in sets that are all too large except the smallest one). I’d love to find small packing cubes with securely attached hardware so I can clip a crossbody strap onto one. Any ideas?

shoe help!! paris>barcelona>amsterdam, end of may - mid june

hey guys:) travelling for two research conferences, so need to dress sharp but comfortable enough to explore too. also trying to fly as light as possible with just one personal item bag. i’ve tested my bag, and i can bring 2 shoes and wear 1 pair of boots, only problem now is picking the combo :p

the sneakers in the middle are for sure, and then 1/2 on the left and 1/2 boot. if i were just doing barcelona id skip the boot, but im thinking amsterdam could be rainy and unpredictable. all of these shoes are comfortable, but the sandal is comfier than the flat, and the short boot comfier than the tall boot.

also how do u guys feel about boots in hot weather? i tend to not mind and have done the tall boots for multi-day music festivals.

what combo would you guys choose?

thanku^_^

Alternative to Osprey Daylite 26+6

I hope I have followed the rules appropriately and added the image description in a way that is useful.

I had bought the Osprey Daylite 26+6 backpack. I thought it looked great, but I was hesitant because of the price. I don’t travel by plane that often, and at my age (78!) I’m not sure how many more 1.5 bag trips are ahead of me.

Meanwhile my partner had bought a Bagsmart bag that was equally light--maybe even lighter-- and at about $33 about 1/3 of the cost. After vascillating I decided to go with the cheaper one like his, with an add-on of a sternum strap. I have to say that it worked incredibly well on a recent three week trip, and I have no regrets. It’s probably not as well made as the Osprey, but it’s well enough made, and it worked fine as an under seat personal item on various airlines. I bought it on Amazon and interestingly I don’t think the Bagsmart website sells this particular model.

Does this bag even exist??

I have been looking through the Reddit posts, searching on websites, even asked ChatGPT for help...and now I'm finally asking here if the bag I want even exists? What I'm looking for is:

  • Backpack around 25-30 litres
  • Can be expanded for extra space
  • Stowaway backpack straps
  • Attachable shoulder/duffle strap (may have to buy this separately)
  • Clamshell or lay flat opening
  • Main compartment having a U-zip mesh cover
  • Trolley sleeve
  • Does NOT need a laptop compartment (just adds to the weight and I don't want to bring a laptop with me)
  • Doesn't need a ton of extra pockets or straps
  • Water bottle pocket nice but not necessary
  • Must be able to purchase in Canada

Right now I'm leaning towards:

  • Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC but it's not expandable.
  • Topo Global Travel 30L bag but it's also not expandable and the hip straps don't stow away.
  • Osprey Transporter Travel Pack 36 but again, it's not expandable.
  • AmazonBasics Carry-On Travel Backpack but it's a little large and I worry about quality.

Maybe I'm just being too picky but I really want to one bag travel and have the right bag for all my needs.

Hi. I have an extra pill organizer and I was wondering if anyone has tried using one to travel with makeup powders? I have a few of the larger mineral makeup pots that I want to take with me but I’m trying to lighten my load.

Trip Report/ Update on my trip to Chengdu

Update on this post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/HerOneBag/comments/1sgyfeh/8_days_chengdu_overthinker_first_time_poster_need/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I got back from my trip to Chengdu last week and I had an absolutely amazing time!

Here’s my “packing review”. All in all, I’d say that I packed pretty well!  I’ll list some highlights from things I brought depending on how useful they were/ additional thoughts

Let’s start with the thing(s) I was missing:

-A belt/ better fitting shorts

I tried on the one pair of shorts I brought while it was straight out of the wash and I didn’t realise that they were very large on me until we landed in China. I was able to sort of fold over the top, but just having them fit would have been better

-iberogast

I probably would have been fine without this but I did end up taking some my friend had brought on a few days that my stomach felt queasy so I thought I should include it in the list

Stuff I brought that wasn’t on the original list

-chia seeds (fibre to help digestion)

-duct tape

We ended up actually needing it (but I lost it somehow)

-rain jacket (mentioned in first post)

Bought it for this trip and it came in quite handy on the one day it was 20-ish degrees and drizzling

-Aux cable for headphones

Used it on the first flight to watch 30min of weck it Ralph part 2, could have lived without this but eh.

-Small earbuds / headphones

Slept in these at the hotel, probably could have gone without the additional big over-ears but I liked having the option of noise cancellation. Next time I’ll only take these.

-50€ cash

Just in case , didn’t need it

-pack of tictacs

Better case than my mints

-sweatpants

A lot of people suggested I wear linen pants on the plane but I would have frozen my ass off on my way to the airport and on the first flight. The second flight was surprisingly warm so I stayed in my shorts and changed in a bathroom when we got back to Germany. Totally worth it

-sweater

Word on flight and in the hotel at night because my roommates wouldn’t compromise on not blasting the AC like crazy

The other stuff I brought (highlights):

-neck pillow

Someone in the comments under my last that I could skip this but let me be clear: BRING A GOOD NECK PILLOW if you plan on sleeping on the plane. I used a borrowed (sort of shitty) inflatable one of the first flight and had an awful time (though I was glad to have it at all) due to intense fatigue and desperation I got an ergonomic pillow at the airport on my way home and it was the best 30€ I’ve spent in long time

I know it’s not “minimalist”, lightweight and bulky but so incredibly worth it. I don’t think I’ll use it anytime soon but I’ll keep it for next time I need to take an overnight journey. If you’re in the market for a neck pillow really consider investing in an ergonomic one. I tried the basic one my friends had brought and they were as bad as my shitty inflatable one.

-sleep mask

Essential on the plane + the blinds in the hotel didn’t fully close so I used it for the entire week

-tooth brush

I could have left this at home bc we were provided with some at the hotel but I liked having my own and being able to brush my teeth on the plane

-the amount of clothes I had was perfect

-used an entire tube of pain-gel (shared with my friend) and took two ibuprofen a day. Next time I’ll take it easy the first few days and maybe avoid this lol)

-my waterproof hiking shoes are ugly as shit but perfect for all occasions, we even went to one slightly upscale restaurant , but I don’t think anyone noticed or cared

-tissues

There’s no toilet paper in a solid 60% of bathrooms, so I was glad to have my pack and ended up buying new ones

My slightly excessive edc:

I brought my normal every day edc with a few swaps and used almost all of it

-loved tictacs

-used the salt just straight up on my tongue when I felt like I needed some electrolytes

-THE PAPER WAS AN ABSOLUTE WINNER!! BRING PAPER!!! completely unforeseen but there were MULTIPLE spots where I could get cute stamps (better than any souvenir)

-got a blister despite my hiking shoes being absolutely amazing, but I could have brought less

-lip balm with spf50 was my best friend

-used the scissors multiple times

Stuff I could have left at home/didn’t use

-earplugs

I brought an entire pack of wax earplugs that I only used one pair of in chongquing bc I was getting overwhelmed by the noise. Didn’t need to bring an entire pack, since I mostly slept in headphones anyways. Might invest in re-usable ones next time and just bring one pair in my edc

-umbrella

We had good luck with the weather and I didn’t bring the umbrella on the one day that it actually rained. not sure if this was a “should have left it at home” item bc Chengdu is usually super rainy during this time of year

the stuff I didn’t bring that was on the list/stuff I didn’t bring and didn’t miss

-my wallet

Used one of those large paper-clip thingies instead

-daybag

I agonised over this so much but I just used my slingbag on a day to day basis and carried a few additional things like a water bottle / shoppingbags in my hands. This was way less annoying than I thought

-Plug adapter

The hotel had usb-A and European outlets (one of my friend had the issue of only having brought usb-c to usb-c cables and had to borrow my charger)

-portable charger

thanks to a helpful commenter on my last post i knew to leave my portable charger at home. I bought one when I got to China and would recommend doing the same, since you’re sort of lost without your phone

-jeans

Took the advice of everyone In the comments on my last post.

————————————

Additional notes

-Despite some people warning me of this i didn’t get any stomach issues

-this probably disqualifies me from being a “one bagger” but i bought a small suitcase and packed it with souvenirs (a few gacha, a really nice mug otherwise mostly candy and tea), will bring it empty on any future trans-continental trips. Honestly curious how other “one-baggers” deal with souvenirs? When I travel in europe I don’t really get things/ If anything I get consumables but I knew I wanted to get a lot of tea in china. I probably could have gotten less stuff in general and fit it in my bag but that would have been annoying/felt limiting. Genuinely interested in hearing everyone’s thoughts!!

-Feel free to ask me any questions about my trip!

Fabrics other than merino: bamboo? Hemp?

I have some merino clothes, mostly tops and socks, that I am very satisfied with. But, planning a summer trip, I’m worried about being too hot during the day.

Does anyone have experience with bamboo or hemp, for tops or underwear? I’m interested in coolness, un-stinkableness, and how quickly they dry after sink washing.

Any other fabrics, including manmade, you would recommend for those qualities?

Patagonia Refugio 30l as WizzAir onebag

I recently went for 10 days for a trip in 10-26°C climate with mostly one-day trekking and some sightseeing and beach time.

Patagonia Refugio easily fit into WizzAir sizer. It wasn't fully filled, as I was wearing two fleeces and a jacket on me.

Report - 3 nights in NYC as an Electronic heavy traveller

Hello Hello,

I decided last minute to go to NYC from Mtl, I hadn't been in a few years and its a long weekend here. Photo is all items I brought with me.

Trip goal: Shopping, photography and general vibes.

Report:

Used this a trial run for my trip to Greece this summer. I wanted to test out comfort over long & hot hours, packing going for out & daily activities and anticipating for shopping.

I travel for photography and food. I always need one cute outfit and a daily bag fitting the camera.

The Cocotte bag is still one of my favorites 10 years later. It fits so much even with the camera & so comfortable. Just not very fancy dinner vibe. It is safe against pickpockets and easy to carry. I leave a small reusable tote in it case. 9.5\10 with tote but glad I brought the M&N purse (also fits the fuji! + phone + wallet + tote)

I brought an ipad mini on this trip with an extra-slim keyboard. Didn't end up using the keyboard. But at 177g didn't notice. 8\10 for entertainment and travel planning

The packable duffle is now a travel essential. I ended up using it as I went a bit nuts at Trader joe's and Target (we don't have in Canada) and some other stuff. 9\10. Unfortunately, doesn't that structure so it was difficult for delicate items.

Overall, for 3 days I could have done with less but I am happy with what I had. I could have done with just a black uniqlo sling instead of the 2 smaller bags and less toiletries.

My packing list :

  • 2 longsleeves (to and from Montreal wear) (Should have been 2 tshirts)
  • 2 Tshirts (Should have been 2 tanks tops)
  • 1 White button shirt (for fancier dinner + travel days layer)
  • 1 pair of jeans
  • 4 undies + socks + 1bra

I have moved away from shaped packing cubes to unstructured ones (cutter ziplock bags basically). I find them more useful and easier to deal with when one bagging.

Toiletries:

Whenever I use daily products, I leave a little bit (like a few days worth) so that I can bring them on short trips. So I only have to bring back the reusable container and with no weight. This was ok overall and saves me from transferring products to extra containers, lose the ID tag, wonder wtf it is and then throw them away.

One change : facecream & make up, I should have brought just sunscreen and just a sample size mascara.

* Tip *: I found out that the Secret travel size fits perfectly the Dove reusable deodorant refills. Compact and refillable!

Electronics\ Camera:

  • Fuji camera (9\10) + wrist and body strap *heavy but compact
  • Ipad mini (10\10)
  • Logitech slim keyboard (5\10)
  • Airpod max - used only on the plane. No regrets was next to a crying baby both ways.

Two tips that have improved my setup (shoes & daypack)!

This post is just to share two miscellaneous nuggets of knowledge that have really improved my setup on the past few onebag trips I've taken. I normally don't love encouraging people to buy new things, so the second tip is more of a strategy than a specific product!

1. Camper Pix shoes (Image 1)

I am making a whole damn post plugging these shoes because beyond being very awesome looking (in my opinion), they are unbelievably lightweight. Like, it feels like you're holding a pair of Tevas, but they are so high quality and comfortable, like all Camper shoes in my experience. I really don't know how they did it. I am not a sneaker person in my day-to-day so I've been trying to figure out what other pair of shoes to travel with — I almost always bring trail runners for running/hiking, but I don't want to wear those around the city, and I don't want to lug boots around. These are it! I've walked long distances in them around the city and they are really comfy; they can also be dressed up for conferences, dinners, etc. They're magic shoes.

2. Packing a small daypack FLAT (not rolling) (Images 2-4)

This is perhaps dumb and obvious, but I used to never pack a daypack because I felt like they took up too much space, and I had my sling and my nanobag tote. But on my last two trips, I took my small daypack (mine happens to be this wonderfully loud yellow American Tourister number) and instead of rolling it and stuffing it in, I packed it flat — once, right in front of the laptop sleeve (Image 3) and once, on top of everything before I zipped my bag up (Image 4). Suddenly it took up zero space at all. Having a daypack was incredibly useful on a trip where I was going to a conference and wanted to carry my laptop and a notebook to the conference but didn't want to bring my whole 40L backpack. This pack-flat principle probably works for tons of other things too, but I happened to figure it out for this. (Would love to hear what others do too!)

Decanting tip!

Just wanted to share this lil decanting tip - this is my go to creme deodorant, but the packaging is so bulky & a little goes a long way (I think one stick usually lasts me 3 months). I put half the stick into a sandwhich bag to pipe it into this air pump tube - and the weight difference was wild! Looking forward to seeing how long this will last me on a 500 mile walk across Spain in a few months (yes, I’m already packing 🤣)
Image description: small plastic air pump bottle with cream deodorant in it with text saying it weights .8 oz next to a full sized package of Secret clinical strength deodorant say it weighs 2.5oz

** UDATE: this is a solution for CREAM deodorant - or products that are more cream/paste like vs solid stick deodorants. Many have asked for the product link, I picked these up in a random shop in Baja, Mexico - but here is an amazon link for the same type of product https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GVTHSKPP/?coliid=I2KNX0SVHXIKBS&colid=2GWCSWDOBCJ38&psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_lstpd_57J5GJBMGRFVNCPYGSPB

Rule 5 Reminder

Our rules are clear.

We do not allow profit oriented or clout focused self-promotion, marketing or market research.

We have a rule specifically about this. Spammers, clout chasers, marketers: you are not welcome here. If your only purpose in posting here is to promote a product, you’re not welcome.

Users seeking to share their own truly informative content can seek approval from the mod team if unsure. This includes things like personal blogs or instructional videos or tutorials. These are generally welcome and add value.

If you are a brand rep, designer, inventor, marketer, influencer or app developer and you post promoting your product or cause without getting our consent to do so, you will be permanently banned. This includes posting affiliate links when recommending products, which will be removed.

It is exceptionally rare for us to approve brand or research requests, as this sub is a curated space for real humans to get peer advice.

It is not a portal to moneymaking and we already grapple with the many facets of overconsumption in the organic conversations held here by users.

Very occasionally we have brands ask if their representative can participate to answer product questions, sometimes in reply to specific post discussions. Such accounts have user flair to identify them as being approved by the mod team. There are currently two which are rarely active on the sub.

We expect brand representatives to identify themselves to us BEFORE participating in the sub in any official brand capacity. We do not allow this type of participation to tip over into active brand promotion (including suggesting “have you tried…”).

“Viral marketing”, whether well disguised or not, is not allowed either. If you see these please report them. A recent example included a solid toiletries brand.

These can be subtle. A good sign this may be the case is if the OP posts and then never engages in their own comments section.

We do rely on reports and mod mail to alert us to these issues. We are committed to keeping the sub as spam free as possible.
