Looking for multi-brand barefoot / minimalist shoe stores in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka (beyond Vivobarefoot)

Hi everyone,

I’m traveling to Japan soon (visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka) and looking to buy barefoot / minimalist shoes.

I already know about the Vivobarefoot store in Tokyo, but I’m looking for multi-brand physical stores that carry a variety of brands in one place (e.g., Lems, Xero, Groundies, Altra, Bedrock, Luna, or interesting local Japanese minimalist/tabi brands).

Are there specific outdoor, running, or specialty foot-health shops in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka that have a good in-store selection of wide toe-box / zero-drop shoes to try on?

Any specific store names, locations, or neighborhoods (like Jimbocho in Tokyo) would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Best versatile pants for high-mileage urban travel (Japan in Nov)? Looking for physical retail brands only

Heading to Japan for 30 days throughout November. Traveling ultra-light (aiming for near one-bag/minimal luggage) and planning to pick up just two versatile pairs of pants that will cover the entire trip for massive daily walking steps.

What I'm looking for:

Vibe & Fit: Clean, low-key urban aesthetic. Durable and comfortable for 20k+ daily steps, but looks sharp enough for casual dining/city roaming.

Climate/Weight: Japan in November is crisp/cool, but I run warm—so I need breathable fabrics that regulate temperature well and don't trap heat, but still work comfortably in mild autumn weather (and keep working for regular use back home).

Availability: Must be available in physical retail stores to try on in person (no Amazon-only / online-exclusive direct-to-consumer brands).

Currently on my radar:

Lululemon ABC Pant (Warpstreme fabric) – Heard great things, but how does the fabric feel for sustained walking?

Columbia Silver Ridge / ROC line – Practical, but not sure how the cut and style hold up in urban settings compared to athleisure/travel brands.

Would love feedback or "anti-recommendations" on these two, or suggestions for other specific models/brands available in stores. Thanks!

Chronic shoulder instability, Labrum/Bankart/SLAP tears & thin tendons – Anyone had success with peptides for stability and strength?

Hi everyone,I’m looking to hear from anyone who has dealt with a similar shoulder issue and used peptides to aid in recovery, strength, or dynamic stability.A bit of context on my situation and recent MRI findings:Current Issues: Chronic microinstability in my left shoulder following past dislocations. MRI / Structural Damage: Confirmed Bankart lesion, SLAP lesion, moderate Hill-Sachs lesion, and a thin subscapularis (SSC) tendon. Strength & Function Impact: Before these dislocations, I was doing pull-ups with 30kg added weight. Now, I can barely do bodyweight pull-ups, and I constantly have to modify my training to stay below shoulder height. It’s extremely frustrating to lose that level of strength and overhead confidence. I’m curious about the experiences of people who faced structural labral/tendon damage and chronic instability:Have specific peptides (like BPC-157, TB-500, or GH secretagogues) helped you regain joint stability, connective tissue integrity, or overall shoulder tightness/strength?Did you notice any measurable improvement in tendon health or capsular stability over time? How did you structure your protocol, and what was your experience with it?Would love to hear any experiences or feedback from those who have been down a similar road with shoulder instability. Thanks!

Chronic shoulder instability, Labrum/Bankart/SLAP tears & thin tendons – Research/data on peptides for stability and tissue integrity in test subjects?

Hi everyone,
Looking to hear from anyone who has run research on similar shoulder issues using peptides to aid in recovery, strength, or dynamic stability.
Context on the test subject & recent MRI findings:
Current Issues: Chronic microinstability in the left shoulder following past dislocations.
MRI / Structural Damage: Confirmed Bankart lesion, SLAP lesion, moderate Hill-Sachs lesion, and a thin subscapularis (SSC) tendon.
Strength Impact: Prior to these dislocations, the subject was working with 30kg added weight on pull-ups. Currently, even bodyweight pull-ups are a struggle, and training has to stay strictly below shoulder height.
Curious about real-world results and experiences:
Have specific peptides (like BPC-157, TB-500, or GH secretagogues) actually helped your subject regain joint stability, connective tissue integrity, or tightness?
Did you notice any measurable improvement in tendon health or capsular stability over time?
How was the protocol structured, and what was the overall experience with it?
Would love to hear any feedback or results from those who have been down a similar road. Thanks!

Looking for shoes for an intense trip (30K-40K steps/day) – switching from Vivobarefoot (Deciding between Flux, Norda, and On)

Hey everyone,

I'm planning a trip with a ton of walking (30,000 to 40,000 steps a day). Day-to-day I walk 10,000 steps in **Vivobarefoot** and they're comfortable for me, but I'm worried their thin soles will be too extreme for this kind of load.

I narrowed it down to three models, and these are my concerns about them:

  1. **Flux Adapt Runner:**
  2. **Norda 002:** Breaking my head over the **5mm lugs** – the trip combines asphalt, roads, and gravel, and I'm afraid they'll be annoying or wear out too fast on hard surfaces.
  3. **On Cloudsurfer Next (Wide version):**

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows these models with wide feet, and also for other recommendations for shoes that fit this kind of load with a low drop and a wide toe box (**except Altra, I don't like them**). Thanks in advance!

What’s the best weekly split for calisthenics endurance? (Goal: 30 unbroken pull-ups)

Hey everyone,
I’ve been training calisthenics for a while and wanted to get some advice from the endurance experts here.
My current stats:
Weighted Dips: +40kg (88 lbs) for 4 reps
Pull-ups: Currently at 10 BW reps. I'm recovering from a shoulder injury, so I’ve had to scale back my pulling strength recently.
My goals:
I want to shift my focus toward bodyweight endurance. My ultimate target is hitting 30 consecutive pull-ups, while still progressing with my weighted pull-ups over time.
Current routine & availability:
Right now, I’m only training pull-ups and dips twice a week. However, I have the time to train up to 6 days a week if that's what it takes to optimize my progress.
My training philosophy:
I really connect with the mindset of not going to absolute failure on every single set. I much prefer accumulating a high amount of volume over time using sub-maximal effort (similar to Grease the Groove or high-frequency/lower-RPE training).
For those of you who have successfully built high-rep pull-up endurance, what weekly split or programming structure would you recommend for my situation?
Thanks in advance!

21-Day Vacation in Nov: Splitting our Tokyo stay (Shinjuku + Ginza/Harajuku) vs. staying in one place?

Hi everyone!
My girlfriend and I are heading to Japan for a 21-day holiday in early November. We are super excited and are currently trying to finalize our trip details, but we've hit a bit of a disagreement and would love some experienced advice.
Here is a quick breakdown of our overall itinerary:
Osaka: 4 days
Kyoto: 2 days
Mt. Fuji area: 1 day
Tokyo: 11 days
Our main dilemma is about the long Tokyo leg. We are planning to use Airbnbs, and I would love to split the 11 days into two different vibes: 5 days in Shinjuku and the remaining 6 days around Ginza or the Harajuku area.
I think it would be fun to experience waking up in two totally different neighborhoods. However, we are divided on whether packing up and switching Airbnbs mid-trip is actually worth the hassle, or if it just eats into valuable vacation time.
For an 11-day stay in Tokyo, would you highly recommend splitting locations to experience different areas, or is it much smarter to just pick one single location and rely on the trains?
Any insights or personal experiences would be hugely appreciated! Thank you!

Transitioning from Barefoot (Vivo) to Norda 002 or Joe Nimble for a high-step trip? Need sizing & aesthetic alternatives

Hi everyone,
I’m a long-time barefoot shoe wearer—my daily rotation consists mainly of Vivobarefoot and Ohne Project. I love the wide toe box and the zero-drop feel, but I have a major trip to Japan coming up where I’ll easily be hitting 30k–40k steps a day on hard city pavement.
Given that volume, I need something with a bit of cushioning so my feet don't completely disintegrate, but I still want to keep a foot-shaped, relatively grounded feel.
Here is my dilemma:

  1. No Altras, please: I know they have the foot shape and lower stack options, but honestly, I find most of their models incredibly ugly. I need something that looks good and blends well with streetwear/gorpcore aesthetics for traveling.
  2. Norda 002: I’ve seen a lot of hype around Norda. I'm specifically looking at the 002 (not the 001) because I saw it has a slightly lower stack height. I don't want a massive, chunky midsole; I want to maintain some of that closer-to-the-ground barefoot/Altra feel, just with enough protection for insane daily step counts. How do they feel on a wider foot?
  3. Norda Sizing: If I wear a Size 10 in Vivobarefoot, what size should I look at for the Norda 002? I’ve heard the brand generally runs small.
  4. Joe Nimble: I’m also looking into Joe Nimble since they focus heavily on "toefreedom" with more cushioning. Does anyone have experience with their road/trail models regarding comfort, width, and aesthetics?
If you have any other recommendations for brands that hit that sweet spot between foot-shaped toe box, lower-stack cushioning, and high-end tech/fashion aesthetics (similar vibe to Norda), please let me know!
    Thanks in advance!

I’m launching a high-end, D2C air filter brand focused on a minimalist, clinical aesthetic. The product is an ultra-slim (15mm), high-performance HVAC filter.
We are marketing globally (outside the US) and looking for a name that is phonetically simple and visually clean.
Which of these resonates most with a premium, high-performance brand?
VNT
LINEAIR
KITE
I would also love to hear any other suggestions that fit a "functional-minimalist" or geometric aesthetic

Note: I am marketing outside the US, so the name needs to be globally resonant and easy to pronounce in multiple regions.

Looking for feedback on these two options:

LINAR – Derived from "Linear," representing the product's thin profile and precision geometry.

LINAIR – A direct combination of "Line" and "Air."

I also considered the name ZERO (representing zero pollutants), but I'm concerned about the heavy association with Coca-Cola.

What are your thoughts on these? I would also love to hear any additional suggestions that fit this aesthetic.
