Something between Solaris, Dracula and Lovecraft.

Basically ☝️. I love dark mystery and scifi. One of the books that deeply impressed me was Solaris by Stanislav Lem. Things I liked about it were suspense, >!sentience of non alive objects, inner monologue of the character slowly turning into schizophrenia!< and general vibe - I had a very colorful picture of the ocean in my head, that's fun. I thought it all sounds kinda like Lovecraft and I'm a total fan of him as well. And I added Dracula by Bram Stoker to the list because it was my first book ever and it contains a special place in my heart, that's probably where my love for spooky stories arose from. The book suggestion doesn't need to be necessary "ancient vampires from outer space", it's just to demonstrate my interests. But if there is actually something like this I would appreciate the advice too haha. Thanks everybody!

Scam or not scam? 2 woman pretend they're looking for Balkan neighbors.

I was at home when the door bell rang. I assumed it's my boyfriend, because sometimes he's too lazy to search for his keys in his bag pack, so I opened it. But there were 2 women, they said they are Croatians. From what they told me and as I understood - they are searching for people from Balkan countries to gather a "kind of Balkan society in the neighborhood". So basically they're reading people's surnames on mailboxes and if it sounds south Slavic - they approach this household. There are indeed Slavic surnames on my mailbox, but me and my roommates are eastern. They apologized and left. Honestly, for me all this story sounds shady af. I am overthinking a million theories involving sex slavery or other scam schemes or whatever, I am a paranoid person. Do you have any idea what it might be about or it's literally just Balkans who are looking for friends in such a creepy way? Like bro, go to Facebook, what the hell is this?
