I was convinced I’d never like matte top coat but now I really enjoy seeing how it transforms a mani. And it helps me extend them for longer than a day (!) as otherwise I get bored and antsy to change them.

I have HT Ctrl Cutie on the way and I’m suddenly super excited about it. I’m hoping the combination of a relatively “neutral” mauvey pink and interesting texture might be right up my alley 🤞

I also have Mooncat Velvet Rose and Lacquistry The Darker the Berry on the way (can you tell I have a type?) but the HT is the one I can’t wait to get on my nails.

I’m rather proud of it. The split goes more than halfway across the nail, and is a week old.

I originally patched the front with tea bag but it was too lumpy and was actually securing my nail too rigidly so it wouldn’t bend at all when knocked - which was becoming quite painful.

So I filed it off, and instead worked a little patch down into the back surface of my free edge, secured with lots of nail glue and powder from the Orly repair kit.

Tbh my nails need a trim but I enjoy the repair process so much I thought I’d go for it!

Polish is Cracked Donut Spunk topped with Sally Hansen red QDTC

… but if you’re looking for a cute ethereal shimmer without spending indie-brand megabucks, you could do worse than Nails Inc That Euphoria Life. I picked up a mini bottle of it for (I think) £1 on Vinted.

Topped with Cirque Lumiere here (dainty holo topper) but it’s lovely without too.

I instinctively lean towards neutral ish tones in my wardrobe - so when I find something that introduces texture and fun it always feels like a triumph. I love this so much.

Did it take a while? Yes

Should I have waited until I had a proper glitter grabber? Probably

Did I make a mess all over the kitchen counter? Yes

Was it worth it? Totally
