Will a kid eat their packed lunch if other kids are eating something else ?

So we found some daycare recently and decided to not put our kid there due to their food menu not being to our liking. The food menu in other daycares is better by a large margin. But the teacher there said you can pack a lunch for your kid. We did not consider that since we thought our kid may not eat his packed lunch if he sees kids there having chips, pizza and other types of food kids like. Was our logic correct ? I’d love to hear from the community here.

Is finding parts for Avalons an issue ?

I’m in the market for a used Avalon but I was told it may be hard/expensive to find some of the parts since the car has been discontinued? I assumed Avalon parts are just Toyota parts and should be available but would be helpful to hear from the owners here.

What is the best way to handle first day of daycare ?

Dropping off our son in daycare for the first time tomorrow and not sure what I should expect. So many questions. Do I tell him that I will come back for him later or do I just leave when he is distracted ? Was also planning to ask the daycare teachers that if our son cries for too long to call us, but not sure how common that is. Appreciate any advice.

Is trading options forbidden or allowed ?

Salam, Jum’a Mubarak.

I’ve been doing some research recently about trading options and seems like the mainstream opinion is that trading options is not allowed due to many reasons such as:

- Gharar (Excessive Uncertainty)

Maysir (Gambling) - Options are viewed as speculative instruments where one party profits directly at the expense of another based on price movements, without any underlying productive economic activity. This resembles gambling, which is strictly forbidden.

Lack of Ownership (Bay’ al-Ma’dum)
In Islam, you generally cannot sell something you don’t own. Buying a call option gives you the right to purchase an asset, but you don’t own it yet — selling that right is considered selling something non-existent or not yet possessed.

No Tangible Asset or Benefit
Islamic contracts require that the subject of a transaction be a real, tangible asset or a legitimate service. An option contract itself — being merely a right or a promise — is not considered a valid commodity to be bought and sold.

Riba (Interest) Concerns
Some options strategies involve interest-based pricing models, which conflicts with the prohibition on riba.

The Premium Problem
The option premium (the price paid upfront) is seen as problematic because the buyer pays money for something that may yield nothing — which resembles paying for pure chance.

However there some people like Joe Bradford that argue trading options are allowed with some caveats. Has anyone else done research about this and can provide any insights ? Would love to hear from the community.

Hi fellow dads,

My son will be going to daycare for the first time and we are a bit worried to be honest. Since he doesn’t have siblings he is not very social and not so good with sharing things as most kids. I already know I’ll feel bad as soon as I drop him off there on the first day but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. I’d love to hear any advice from those who’ve been through this already and what we should expect. How was your experience? How long did your little one take to get used to daycare ?
