Nasi Biryani PEY edition, ex-SIN

Nasi Biryani PEY edition, ex-SIN

Flavourful chicken curry, fried onions and very fluffy biryani rice.

Looks simple but this was easily one of my favourite meals I’ve had in PEY class - I believe the PEY version is actually identical to the JCL version, just different plating and the absence of the side veggies. Comfort food in a dish.

Would 100% order again - 9/10 for me

First time to try A380 - is Redemption Upgrade worth it?

A380 Suites is on my bucket list to do once in my life especially if the A380’s days are numbered. I was also wanting to go to Europe next year.

I know in general everyone talks about how Award Redemptions are the way to go, and fair enough, but what about Redemption Upgrade?

1 way Sydney or Melbourne to Singapore Advantage Award is 178k miles, and forget talking about Saver, doesn’t show up on my end.

But what if I wanted to go further for example to Europe? That’s when it gets messy because not interested in regular First Class and SQ also don’t let you do a mixed cabin award redemption with the cost fairly split with the lower cabin (you have to pay the higher cabin price for the whole route) so forget that.

I was thinking another option is, if you book online you can do a mixed revenue booking of Business outbound, Premium Economy on the return - right now I can get a return ticket from Sydney to Brussels in this config for $8000 AUD. I found out you can then apply for a Redemption Upgrade for Sydney to Singapore leg only to Suites for 105k miles, which is about 40% off a regular redemption.

Is redemption upgrade worth it in this scenario?

I’m thinking I’m leaning more towards just doing a full (Advantage) redemption but then I would need to keep it to a Singapore-only trip rather than trying to fit it into a Europe trip.

A350LH vs B777-300ER discrepancies in comfort

I’ve travelled a fair bit on the above two aircraft and I’ve noticed despite the A350 being the newer and fancier plane, the 777 actually comes out better.

In Business Class, the seats look the same on paper, it’s 2013J but I’ve actually found the footwell on the A350LH is actually even narrower and tighter. It’s not officially listed but there’s definitely a difference. The 777 seat footwell feels noticeably more roomy.

In Premium Economy, there’s a different seat product, it’s subtle but you notice it’s a different model of seat between the two aircraft. The A350 seat just feels tighter, there’s a lot more equipment underneath the seat in front of you restricting your legroom. The 777 one, which is the same as the A380 seat there’s nothing obnoxiously instructing the legroom underneath the seat so you can stretch out more and I could swear it also reclines a bit more than the A350 seat.

Does anyone else agree or notice similar observations? I’m starting to like the 777 more than 359
