mySQUpgrade (pay with miles)
Melbourne to Singapore, is it a good idea to spend 98000 miles on this?
The normal upgrade was not available when I asked (I asked once a week since March).

Is it because of the war cuz it's hard to believe that it's happening due to the demand or season as I'm looking at the same months and I did my deep research and the prices are doubled right now. Like exactly doubled. Lol
Hi all, I don't fly much so asking a noob question here.
Just flown from BNE to SG and had a max limit of 30kg for luggage. I put my bag on the bag drop-off scale and unfortunately, I had 31.2kg. Was ready for my bag to be rejected but it got checked in (with the heavy tag) and did not had to pay the excess fee.
Is there a certain unwritten threshold? I did checked in 3 hours early if that matters
Absolutely unreal travel day. Our flight diverted from JFK to Stewart Airport (SWF) because of the weather situation in NYC. After landing around 7:30 PM, passengers remained stuck onboard for hours because SWF normally does not handle international arrivals.
What makes this even more frustrating is that CBP facilities were eventually set up at SWF, and at least one other diverted international flight was reportedly allowed to deplane. Singapore Airlines instead chose not to pursue that option and ultimately decided to wait for replacement pilots from NYC so the aircraft could continue to JFK. Passengers were left onboard for roughly five hours before a clear decision was made.
That also means even once we finally depart SWF, there is still another hour flight back to JFK before passengers can clear customs and actually leave the airport.
This was already after an 18-hour flight, meaning many of us will effectively spend 25+ hours trapped on this aircraft before even reaching the terminal. At this point it may be 2–3 AM before we finally arrive at JFK.
Minimal food, exhausted passengers, barely any updates, missed connections, and no hotel or compensation guidance so far. I understand weather causes diversions, but the operational handling of this situation has been unbelievably poor.
we have a 1 hour layover at Changi, travelling with a baby from Haneda. on our outbound flight, we had to transfer from one end of T2 to T1 and it took a while, especially since we’re moving slower with a baby. is it worth booking special assistance to help with the transfer? we saw others on our flight getting driven in the buggy thing which would have been helpful! the flight is 2 days away, so might have left it too late!
I'm flying Auckland to Singapore on B777 next month. Does this mean there are absolutely no window or aisle seats left available? Or will I be able to take my chances at getting a window or aisle at check in if I don't prebook?
Thanks!
Edit: I've booked a forward zone seat so I don't end up in the middle. Thanks everyone
Am I the only one bothered by the awkward design of SQ business-class seat, at least on their Airbus 350 and 380 long-haul flights? The foot well is not directly in front of you but off to the side. Stretching your legs straight in front is impossible because the space is just not there. Again, seats are arranged diagonally on many airlines, but so is the space for your feet, so everything is aligned. While this may be a minor annoyance on a short flight, it is completely unacceptable on a 12-14 hour flight when sleeping with stretched legs is impossible. At least for me, this one feature alone disqualifies SQ from any serious consideration for a transcontinental travel, other well known advantages notwithstanding. I wonder if the above misalignment is present on all aircraft types, or if something has perhaps recently changed.
Just flew from EWR to BKK and back on the A350-900 ULR for the first time (landed 3 hours ago at EWR so I feel a bit crazy). Was a good flight both ways, service was excellent, pilots did a good job avoiding turbulence, and flights were right on time. I'm curious though about why SQ 21 flew the Europe route, and SQ 22 went the opposite direction over the Pacific? Is it the wars in Ukraine/Iran with a situation that may have changed over the past 2 1/2 weeks, or do they normally do this because of jet streams? We were absolutely cooking over the Pacific with a 220 km/h tailwind.
Hi! We were able to pre-select our BTC & meals a few weeks out of our Syd > CDG (via Singapore) flights without issues.
We’re flying CPH > Syd (via Singapore) in 10 days & have been unable to pre-select meals now.
The website keeps giving an error message saying meal selection is unavailable. Is this a known issue?
We’re flying PE if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance.
Hello. Title. I am booking a stopover and the stopover has a waitlist for a better timed flight, but I can reserve the same route and same day but different time. So basically I can both waitlist one flight and reserve the other. How does this work if I get off? Will it just cancel the reserved flight if I get off the waitlist?
Would this count as a double claim?
My damaged luggage costs around $300. If the airline only compensates part of it, can I claim the remaining unreimbursed amount from FWD Group travel insurance?
The total payout still wouldn’t exceed the actual luggage cost. Has anyone done this before?
I’m travelling with SIA next month from Australia to Greece via Singapore & Munich.
I’m a professional photographer and will have my gear with me. I’ve read the SIA website & they’ve stated up to 20 spare batteries. I have about 10 max. so under that limited.
Wondering if there are any photographers on here that have travelled with gear that can share their experience??
I purchased a flight a few months ago. Flight is: LAX to BKK via SIN. I booked Round Trip. Economy (2 tickets). And Paid for 2 seats on the departure LAX to SIN leg.
Departure: LAX to SIN and SIN BKK (purchased seats on the LAX to SIN leg)
Return: BKK to SIN and SIN LAX
I received an email a couple of weeks after purchasing that the return flight (the 1st leg BKK to SIN) was being cancelled. The SIN to LAX leg return remains as scheduled. They basically automatically reassigned me to an earlier BKK to SIN flight on the same day.
But that airline change gave me an option to change my return itinerary for free.
So that got me to thinking, let's extend our trip an extra two days and change the return date/flight at no charge.
So today I finally got around to attempting to make that change. I clicked on the new return flight itinerary options and chose a new flight and new date.
As I was clicking through the progress/selections to confirm, I read on the page
"Your paid seats will be cancelled and refunded to your original mode of payment"
Paid Seats Refund
Your Paid Seats will be cancelled and refunded to your original mode of payment.
So, this is where it gets tricky. Is that statement about paid seats being cancelled meant for the entire itinerary or just for the return leg that I am changing (of which I have no paid seats on that leg)?
For instance, as I mentioned above, I paid for seats on the departure leg of the flight. That flight is still confirmed, and no changes have been made although it's all part of this same itinerary. Confirmed is shown in Green.
BUT I am making an itinerary change to the Return leg, but I have not made any purchases for seats to the Return leg.
So, when I click confirm to the return flight change, I assume that resets my entire itinerary and my purchased seats on the unchanged and confirmed departure leg get canceled and I have to choose my seats again and pay? Or is the statement about your paid seats being cancelled only implied for the return flight change (of which I have no paid seats on that leg)?
The reason this is important is because when I purchased the flight my credit card offered me $300 USD back if I spent $1700 USD with Singapore airlines. The purchased seats took me over the $1700 threshold and I got $300 back.
If I make this itinerary change for the return leg and the departure seats are cancelled and refunded, that will then dip me below the $1700 USD, and the credit card will then take back the $300.
I hope everyone can follow 😄
Basically, if an itinerary change is made for the return leg, will the paid seats of the departure flight end up being cancelled and refunded?
Thank you.
I just realised I'm only a hundred or so PPS value away from qualifying for the first time.
I have an upcoming economy flight this Fri. My question is, if I qualify via Krispay non-flight points this close to the departure date, do I get PPS privileges for this flight or does it take awhile to process? How long does PPS status take to activate upon meeting the 25k threshold?
I suppose I could pull forward the purchase of some birthday/Christmas presents if I find anything on Krispay, haha. Thanks!
Can I transfer these miles to another airlines. My dilemma is I can transfer points from my credit card but only enough to do Philippines -> Singapore. All other flights need more miles becauase of the layover to singapore but we don't really want to visit singapore now.
Are there other redemption options? Or can I transfer it to other star alliance members for direct flights?
Per title, I know it would vary by route, timings etc. but was just wondering the rough ranges, e.g. 10-20 on a flight
Last month I was booked to fly Premium Economy on Singapore Airlines, but when I arrived at the airport the airline said the plane was overbooked and downgraded me to Economy.
They offered compensation in the form of the fare difference between Premium Economy and Economy (on the day of the flight - not at the time of booking), and when I asked if I could wait and take a later flight they claimed those were overbooked too.
There were other passengers on the flight who were also downgraded, and the advice from Singapore Airlines was that passengers who book Business/Premium Economy with them ought to be aware that their seats can be downgraded.
Wanted to post here as I genuinely had no idea this was how they operated, and I wondered if others were aware?
Hey guys, so I am travelling from Melbourne --> Singapore. Singapore --> Paris. Then return is Paris --> Singapore. Singapore --> Melbourne.
I am travelling with my partner, and we booked separetly so we could use our student discount. We also booked 3 months ago, and the flight is in July. Our original booking shows different seats (the ones we had picked), economy, and seated together on next to the window for all flights. However, Im not sure when, but we just checked the managing booking on the official singapore website, and our seats had changed for our flight from Melbourne --> Singapore, and Singapore --> Melbourne. We are now rows apart, and no longer on the side - in the middle aisle.
We also paid an extra 400 AUD each for the benefits for changing flights etc. And booked through the official singapore airlines website.
Checking now, the flight is almost fully booked and all the side seats are taken, and there are no avaliable seats together (like two seats in a row..), and there is only <5 left in economy, in the middle aisle.
Honestly, I am quite mad.. given we booked ages ago, and there was no notice. We are trying to contact them to put us together for seats. This is my first time flying without parents, and also have a decent fear of flying hah. I also have severe anaphalaxysis to nuts and allergies to seafood, so sitting next to my partner (who would also avoid them for my sake), was also somewhat of a safety precaution. Not sure what to do, and whether theyll change it back - given everything is almost fully booked :/
