Upgrade more expensive than cash ticket

Is it common on SQ that their upgrade cost is actually more than buying a cash ticket?

Flying JFK to SIN tomorrow and they want USD 4,570.00 extra to upgrade a 1000USD ticket.

A cash biz on their website is USD5,312.50... so an upgrade is more expensive than purchasing outright.

Do they do more competitive deals at the gate?

Free ticket for Harry Styles tonight (July 31st)

Long story short, but I have travelled from the UK from Harry’s House to see Harry in Mexico tonight (31st July) via 5 countries and I got 2 tix online as I wasn’t sure if they would go through and I didn’t want to risk not being able to get in. Surprisingly, they both did and I’ve got them in my Ticketmaster account.

I’m solo (33m) and will be going to the concert alone. No need for us to hang out or anything during the show, but I’m happy to give the ticket away to someone that would love to go but for whatever reason couldn’t get a ticket. I’d love a local person to take it as a gift for me visiting your beautiful country.

We will need to meet at the venue to scan it to get in as I don’t want it to transfer it to a scammer / reseller. If no one wants it I’ll just give it to someone in the venue.

They are standing tickets.

Let me know! I’ll comment on the post once it’s taken.

AA 4530 - why are they offering compensation?

I'm new to flight tracking and understanding the reasons behind why I might have got a notification for why my flight is offering money to be bumped to another flight.

AA 4530 0 YYZ 07/29/26 6:15 PM ORD 07/29/26 7:29 PM

I've got expert flyer and can see that the flight is 0 avails. But is that the only reason? They just sold out perhaps? or because something else has happened like an aircraft change?

If anyone can give me a reason for this specfic flight, I'd be very greatful as I want to learn more.

Travelling via Reynosa to Mexico City

EDIT: I'm trying to use unusual travel methods (eg land crossings, overnight busses) to mix up the journey. I know there are direct flights from places to Mexico City, but for this im just trying to understand how dangerous it actually is. As I saw it has a level 4 do not travel warning.

I am planning on travelling to Mexico City via bus from Reynosa next week. I will arrive from Dallas into McAllen and then cross over into Mexico. The plan is to then take a taxi to the bus station.

Is this a safe process?
How bad is things at the moment there? Will it be ok as it's daylight and early ish (I estimate to cross the bridget around midday).
How long does the foot boarder usually take?

Any advice helpful

Thank you

PSA: The Park Theatre doesn’t have a liquor licence everyday

I was looking forward to having a few beers at The Park Theatre today for the TopGun double beer (bill) and I was surprised to learn they only have a liquor licence on certain days. And today isn’t one of those days.

I love supporting cinema, and happy to support Park Theatre as hyper local cinema, but weird they chose to not use one of their liquor licence on a day they’re actively selling double bill tickets to their audience.

Disappointing.

Anyone know when they’ll be serving usually?

It’s 1am. I was hungry so I went out for Pho. What should I do next?

I’m sober, about to warm up with some delicious Pho, then I need something to do after that for an hour or so before going back to bed. I was just rotting my brain in bed watching YouTube videos before.

Any recommendations from any night owls of interesting things to do or see at night in Vancouver? I don’t mind driving a bit. I’m not usually up and out this late unless I’m at an airport.

This dude travelled to Curacao to support them in the world cup

Saw this tiny video a work friend shared of them travelling to Curaçao for the worldcup. Boycotting FIFA but also celebrating the nation for their chance on the main stage. He doesn't use Reddit, so I thought I'd share it with this group.

The video is a bit long and takes a while to get going, but the premise is interesting. Rather than pay $$$ to fifa for the world cup - he spent that money traveling to support a local nation.

Do you think the world cup will have a good affect on Curacao tourism? Anyone else hear of people travelling to the country during the watch parties?

Landmark hotpot house

Can you go to Landmark Hotpot House on Cambie as 2 people?

I’ve never had hotpot but it always has huge groups of people and also looks strangely fancy.

If we go as 2 people will we have to order too much food or can you do to reasonably ?

Spotted the DreamLifter in Miami. Pinch me moment!

Went to the Boeing factory in Seattle last week and didn’t see anything unusual.

Then flying through Miami I see this! Epic. Only 4 in the world!

Where to watch England games in Vancouver?

Has anyone seen any pubs that are showing the England games and have a good vibe for solos? Ideally somewhere you can just turn up, grab a drink at the bar and then find a seat and watch the game at your pleasure. Eg no table service.

Update: I am English, there is no such thing as only buying one drink. Liam Gallagher said it perfectly here. I just like being able to go to the bar when I want, and not having to wait around for a server when I want to leave. Anyway, thanks for the replies!

ELI5: what can a company see if you log into your personal email on your work device?

an it dude was saying never log into your personal email etc on your work device. They even said don’t use your home wifi, use a separate guest wifi.

Can you explain to me what the actual risk is here? And what they can actually see (if anything).

Obviously if you’re applying for a job, maybe they see you surfing that website. But how would they be able to just read my emails and also… do they actually do that?

Open Jaw - Iberia Outbound

Can I turn my oneway companion voucher booking from Madrid to Tokyo (via Iberia) into an open jaw that returns West Coast to London (eg BA)? Or would it have to be Madrid (Iberia)?
