First timer going to Laos in early november for 2-1/2 weeks. What are some nuggets of wisdom you learned you wish you knew the first time you went?

While I have traveled a lot in Thailand amd Vietnam, never Laos. What would you say are some lesser known tips you learned that can help a first timer? Thanks in advance!

just watched the last episode.....

...And I swear, every episode either had me grinning from ear to ear or tearing up inside. what a rollercoaster of emotion. Came from Letterkenny not thinking I would like it but realizing its not about hockey at all, its about brotherhood (and sisterhood). Keeso is a fucking genius. I cant wait to see what he comes up with next. The show was so goddammed wholesome, strippers and all.

Backpacking-ish in Laos- does this make sense?

I will be in Laos 14 days, bringing a backpack carry on. I plan on doing day trips with less stuff so I will also pack a two day pack in the carry on bag. I also need a daily carry like a fanny pack so that as well.
Is that—weird? Seems like a lot of bags but still makes sense to me. Anybody else do this?

First timer getting an AIO cooler, any critical things I should know?

Moving from a noctua air cooler. Getting the silent 3 loop 360mm for my bequiet 802 case, gonna top mount it. I understand plugging it into the correct pump header on the mb and setting g to PWM in bios, any other people with experience have any tips to share? Thanks in advance!

New Bequiet silent loop360 has cpu paste residue?

Just started unpacking this from the bequiet store on amazon and noticed there is no plastic covering the cpu contact area and there is paste residue around it. Is this a normal part of the QC process or is this used? Has anyone else had this issue?

check luggage or carry on for ongoing flight on another carrier through bkk?

Hi, I'm going SFO>BKK through singapore air, then another flight a few hours later to Luang Prabang through Bangkok Air.

--If I check my luggage in SFO then arrive in BKK, will I stay in the secure transit area when getting my bags from the carousel? I don't want to have to exit then re-enter security for my next flight.

Hope that makes sense, thank you!

ESIM advice if you are coming from the US

I recently bought a new phone from verizon, it is esim locked. Their new policy is it must be fully paid off before they will unlock it. Problem is, as an upgrade i get the phone for free if I use the monthly credit as a trade in.

What this means is A:) I can pay off the phone fully and lose the credits that would have made it free after 2 years or B:) Use an old phone sitting around that has no carrier assigned to it, or C:) buy a burner phone.

The issue is verizon has an international plan for 12$ a day, meaning my trip would cost 168$ for my trip vs 15$ using Airalo. Buying a burner phone would probably cost me close to the burner phone price. So I am stuck. So the moral of the story is keep an older phone handy for these sorts of things!

just kind of funny, turns out i'm a big dummy

Thought I was lucky and all smart getting a near front seat on a small 70 seat plane. Smug. Today I find it loads from the rear. Doh! I'm a big dummy, jokes on me.

can anone help me answer my khlong ferry question please?

i will be staying close to the Jim Thompson house on the Saphan Hua Chang Pier. I see that the ferry towards the old city ends at Panfa Leelard Pier, but i want to make it all the way down to Phra Sumen Fortress (Pipit Banglamphu) pier on Pra Athit road.

I have seen there is an electric ferry that SEEMS to go there, but the official line shows it travels on the outer ring of where i want to go.

How can i get to the ferry stops of Phra Sumen Fortress (Pipit Banglamphu) or Norarattana Sathan Bridge nearby from Jim Thompson area?

Thanks in advance!
