Searching using Redeem Miles no longer shows availability with a low balance?

Previously, when searching for award availability, you could choose Redeem Miles on the Booking page and Singapore Airlines' website would show you the availability and if a Saver award is available. I'm not sure when it changed but if I don't have enough miles in my account, it won't even show me if an award seat is available. It simply displays the error message:

Unable to proceed

Unable to proceed because your current miles balance is insufficient for flight redemption searches. To view available flights and the miles required, browse flight options.

Attempting to "browse flight options" shows a similar error. Two questions.

  1. Does Singapore Airlines no longer allow searching for reward flights if you don't have sufficient miles for that flight?

  2. How do I confirm if a saver or standard award flight is available before transferring miles to cover?

Am I missing something here? And yes, I am logged in.

Southwest Airlines - Tail Number vs "Ship Number"

I have logged 2200+ flights from 26 years of travel into Flighty. For older flights, I was able to use Whatplane.com to look up historical aircraft registration numbers. Unfortunately, for the early 2000s, most of the Southwest flights simply return their "Ship Number" and not their N-registration number.

Southwest's ship numbers are N301, etc. and do not include the two letters typically found at the end of the registration number. Thanks to Google, I know that Southwest registration numbers typically ended in WN, LV or SW but could have also ended in SA, HK, CB, GB, JW, RR, GS. Using Claude, I built a script to append each of these letters to each ship number and then cross referenced it against Airliners.net and Planespotters.net to determine if those aircraft actually exist. Unfortunately, this isn't returning any results.

Is there a table or data source out there that shows which N numbers correspond to which SW "ship numbers?" Better yet, is there another website that has more robust data than Whatplane.com where I can look up registration numbers by flight and date?

No garage door button on SEL?

I consider myself a relatively savvy buyer. We purchased a 2025 Limited 15 months ago and love it. When my other car was totaled two weeks, instead of replacing it, I decided to get something a little more rugged that could take more abuse for the dog.

Since it’s primarily for me and dog, I opted for the SEL trim level since I didn’t need any of the bells and whistles.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered there was no garage door button. My car 20 years ago had a garage door button.

Please tell me I’m not the first person to make this mistake. It’s not the end of the world but in the year 2026, this just seems like something that should be standard?

TL;DR: is there really no garage door button on the SEL?

Tree Removal Price Check - $300?

I need a tree removed (with the stump ground down) in the western suburbs. The tree's about 25 feet tall and about 1.5 feet in diameter (rough estimate). Is $300 in line with what I should pay?

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback. Apparently it was a great deal so I did it. Took them less than 30 minutes and they cleaned everything up. Abbot Tree Service for those how are interested. Highly recommend.

I'm organizing my quarterly corporate offsite for September of this year and I plan to fly everyone into Chicago. While I have a number of quotes from hotels for their conference rooms, I'm seeking recommendations for a unique River North or Loop restaurant/event space that can provide a dedicated space from 9 AM to 5 PM for the day, along with catering that won't charge an obscene room rate.

I'd like to keep it to around $100 per person for the day (all in) and will need the space to accommodate a U seating configuration and have AV.

I've tried Peerspace (the last thing I want is another conference room) and a few other sites, but haven't found anything inspiring.

So far Gino's East seems like the most viable option but I can't believe that's the end all, be all (with all due respect to Gino's East).
