Commonwealth update concept-From Outback to Arctic

I put lots of time and work into this concept (8 months technically, but I haven't been working on it all the time, and I didn't think I would bring all the lines together until a few weeks ago), (it was fun though) so I hope you enjoy!

The From Outback to Arctic update would bring the Commonwealth tech tree to the game. The tree would feature: Cerberus line (Heavy cruisers, T1-LT, same as on PC except they have superheals but no sub surveillance for obvious reasons). Undeniable line (Battleships with heavy cruiser guns, T3-LT). Adelaide line (Gunboat destroyers, T2-LT). Quebec line (Torpedo destroyers, T2-LT, unique torp switching mechanic). The update would add Commonwealth cruiser, destroyer and battleship crates, each having a chance to drop tech tree ships from their respective line or a premium (Hector, Achilles '41, Perth from the cruiser ones, Irresistible or Yukon from the battleship ones and Vancouver, Huron or Haida from the destroyer ones). These crates are available for credits, GXP or doubloons in the store or in the Pride of the RAN campaign.

This campaign features T7 cruiser HMAS Sydney and commander as the final rewards with admiralty backing, or a choice between Hobart, Waterhen, Saint Laurent, or Newfoundland (all tech tree T5) without admiralty backing. At level 150 you can receive a Maple Crate, which is guaranteed to drop a commonwealth premium ship. Perth, Hector, Brisbane, Achilles '41 Vancouver, and Irresistible would all be available at a 33% discount for doubloons and original Vampire would be available as a reward from a free mission chain. Yukon and Huron would be available for GXP permanently, and Perth and Vancouver would remain permanently available (but no longer discounted) for doubloons after the update. All existing and new commonwealth commanders would be available for 900,000 CXP in the store, except below mentioned Joseph Burnett.

Calendar: Sinking of the Sydney

Week 1 reward: 10,000 GXP

Week 2 reward: Kormoran commemorative flag

HMS Phaeton was laid down as a Leander-class cruiser that was purchased by Australia before launch and renamed HMAS Sydney. The pride of the Royal Australian Navy, Sydney supported convoys in the Mediterranean, encountering the German Kormoran near Australia, which was pretending to be a Dutch merchant ship under the name of Straat Malakka. Kormoran sunk HMAS Sydney with all hands. In the game HMAS Sydney would be a T7 premium Commonwealth cruiser that features a ready rack as well as unique sonar and aircraft consumables. Sydney features a three round burst, with 1s interval between bursts and a 17s reload. She has very high HE strike potential per burst, thanks to good alpha damage. She also has a strong 10% fire chance and 1/5 HE pen. Her AP alpha damage is low but she has improved pen angles, the same as Riga.

Sydney features a unique sonar, which has an extreme 5.9km ship detection range but a low 2.1km torpedo detection range. Sydney also has two charges of the unique Surveillance Aircraft consumable, which has 30s duration, and 80s cooldown time. This consumable allows the Sydney to spot enemy warships for herself up to 10km away, and for her teammates up to 8km away. This plane can be shot down and swapped for catapult fighter or spotter plane. Sydney does not have great armour, thanks to her tier 5 light cruiser hull, although it is improved compared to Leander, along with higher HP and access to standard heals, but the Sydney does not have any smoke screens. She has 10km 12,450 damage torps, 4 per side. Her shells are quite floaty but not as bad as Leander but her range is quite poor.

Commonwealth gunboat destroyer line concept

The Commonwealth gunboat destroyer line would offer rapid reloading guns, long range torpedoes and the option to choose between smoke, heals or sonar. The line, running from T2-LT consists mostly of real, historical ships. I've done this line in a more easy to read, interesting and less detailed format, but if you want more detailed stats please comment.

Commander: John G. Crace

All skills 16/4

Base trait: Watching From Afar:

RGA of ships: +40%

Spotting range: +30%

Destroyer Detectability range: -2%

Detectability range when firing in smoke: -10%

Unique skill: Row 2: Element of Surprise

Detectability range: -2%

Ship speed whilst undetected: +10%

HE and AP alpha damage whilst undetected: +12.5%

Torpedo alpha damage whilst undetected: +10%

Legendary skills: Unstoppable, Leviathan, Death by a Thousand Cuts

Unique legendary skill: Death by a Thousand Cuts:

Destroyer main battery and torpedo reload time: -7.5%

Destroyer main battery range: +10%

Destroyer AP and torpedo alpha damage: -10%

Destroyer HE alpha damage: -12.5%

When within 5km of an warship:

Main battery reload time: -20%

Destroyer rudder shift time: -15%

Consumables cooldown time: -10%

Tier 2: HMCS St. Clair

St. Clair starts the line with a Wickes class destroyer with some of the best DPM at her tier, with 4 102mm guns that also have good fire chance and pretty standard range, unlike her counterpart of HMCS Patriot in my commonwealth alt DD line concept. St. Clair also has alright torpedoes, with two triple launchers per side, reaching out to 8.5km and having 7,850 alpha damage, as well as a quick 45s reload. St. Clair gets crawling smokes, with good action time and 2 charges. She can't yet slot heal or sonar, but she has quite good concealment for her tier.

Tier 3: HMCS Buxton

Buxton is a Clemson class DD that retains strong DPM and crawling smokes, but she now has the option to slot a heal, which heals some of her quite large HP pool, helping her take repeated engagements. She still does not have the option to take a sonar, but with good manoevrability she can easily dodge torpedoes, aided by her engine boost consumable, which is standard for her tier.

Tier 4: HMAS Vendetta

Vendetta is a V-Class destroyer offering 4 101.6mm guns that have a quick 3.7s reload, but below average alpha damage, resulting in slightly better DPM than Farragut. She loses the 12 torpedoes of her predecessors, but gains 2.5km of range and gets up to 10,300 alpha damage. Still no sonar, but the second best HP pool at her tier combined with the option to take heals instead of a smoke screen makes her a very tanky destroyer. This is aided by her replacement of a standard engine boost for an Italian flavour, an Emergency Engine Boost (EEB), giving +30% extra speed for 10s.

Tier 5: HMAS Waterhen

The Waterhen, a W-Class destroyer of the RAN starts to show the full capabilities of a Commonwealth gunboat destroyer. The Waterhen has the highest DPM of any T5 destroyer, but some of the worst concealment, as well as having only 17mm of HE pen with her 102mm guns. Her slow rudder shift also is problematic, but a tight turning circle and EEB allow her to dodge when necessary. She gets the opportunity to take a 4.2km sonar instead of her crawling smoke or heal, helping her dodge pesky torpedoes when capping.

Tier 6: HMAS Bataan

Bataan is a Tribal-class destroyer that features an unusual gun layout, with 2x2 120mm and 1x2 102mm, with the 120mm guns having 1/5 pen and the 102mm guns having 1/4.25 HE pen, allowing all her guns to pen 24mm base. This fact, combined with her 4.5 second reload and 5% fire chance make her an excellent HE farmer. Bataan gets one quadruple torpedo launcher, with 10.5km of range and 11,200 alpha damage, but a slow 58 knot top speed and a mediocre 85 second reload. Bataan has 2 crawling smokes, or 2 standard heals or sonar. She retains the EEB of the Waterhen, but goes up to 3 charges of this.

Tier 7: HMAS Anzac

Anzac is a Battle-class destroyer operated by the RAN, equipped with 4 114mm guns and 10 torpedoes. Her 114mm main guns have 1/4 HE penetration, allowing her to easily farm battleships with her 29mm of pen and 7% fire chance. Her AP is also no slouch, having high alpha damage and a 3s reload, allowing her to farm broadsides. Her rudder shift is dreadful, one of the worst at the tier, but she has a tight turning circle and good speed. Her concealment is poor to say the least, and her shell velocity is some of the worst in the game. Anzac also features 12km torpedoes, with 95s reload and 9,950 alpha damage for each of her 10 torps. Anzac has 3 crawling smokes or a 4.9km sonar, and finally she can choose to take a standard heal instead of either of those.

Tier 8: HMAS Duchess

Duchess succeeds Anzac as a Daring class, offering an extra gun turret and subsequently the best DPM at her tier, although all other characteristics of her main guns remain the same, bar the shell velocity, which is quite significantly improved, although it is still poor. Duchess goes from 10 to 5 torpedoes, but these have 12.5km of range, 75s reload, 58 knot top speed and 10,250 alpha damage. Duchess gets a 5.2km sonar, or 3 120s crawling smokes, or an improved heal, healing back 70% of pen damage, and healing a larger amount of HP than a standard heal, which, combined with one of the highest HP pool, gives her the survivability to combat the second worst concealment at her tier.

Legendary Tier: HMAS Adelaide

Post war British designs developed for a large "cruiser destroyer," with modern surveillance systems, powerful guns and an adequate torpedo armament. HMAS Adelaide is a concept for such as ship being transferred to Australia. Adelaide has 3 twin 120mm guns turrets, with a 2.9 second reload, which, combined with 4% fire chance and 1/4 HE pen, makes her an excellent HE spammer. Her AP alpha is quite disappointing however, combined with a lack of pen due to their slow shell velocity. She has one triple torpedo launcher per side. These torpedoes get up to 14km of range, and 11,200 alpha damage. They also have 61 knots top speed and 75s reload. Adelaide features 3 charges of a crawling smoke, or 2 superheals, or finally 2 5.2km sonars. Adelaide has a 30 knot top speed, 8.7 second top speed and 690m turning circle. She also has 7.1km concealment base, but great AA combined with 4 charges of her emergency engine boost and and DFAA, allowing her to shoot down enemy planes and dodge strikes.

Hi! Just wanted to remind everyone that World of Warships: Legends, the console version of WoWs, is coming to PC on the 4th of May! Legends offers 9v9 matchmaker, no submarines, and much more balanced carriers! We also have more close range games and less blowouts, as well as campaigns, which are basically monthly dockyards for 2500 doubloons. The game will be available for free on Steam. You are welcome in r/WoWs_Legends, a friendly community where you can ask for help and share builds. I am not a wargaming employee, fair seas captains!
