Is owning a gimbal actually helping you get more work, or is renting enough early on?

I’m looking to buy my first proper gimbal instead of renting constantly (spent the amount of buying a second hand one on renting) and wanted some advice from people with more experience.

I’ve spent a pretty good amount of time using the Ronin S and also some time with the RS 3. I’m mainly getting into filmmaking/narrative work and want something I can grow with long-term.

Would you guys recommend:

- Ronin S

- RS 3/ RS 4

- RS 2

- Saving up for an RS 3 Pro/ RS 4 Pro

I’ll probably slowly move toward heavier cinema-style rigs over time, but right now I’m still early in my filmmaking journey.

Also, in your experience, does owning gear yourself make it noticeably easier to get clients/work compared to renting when needed? Curious how much that matters when starting out.

Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve gone through this already.
